Obviously Mac T calls about Lecavalier, what do we offer him. 3 years at 5 per? That may be a bit rich but I think that will be in the ball park to get him. If, big IF, we sign him for that do we look to moving Gagner for D help, for ex. Kulikov?

I doubt that it's enough. Despite the cap going down he is by far "The Man" when it comes to the free agent crop this year. Watch teams scramble to make cap space with the hopes landing VL. Leaf fans are already excited about adding Letang and now Vinny. |

1 year 8 or 9mil - Lahey
Most experts are speculating he signs a 1 year deal and returns to TB ASAP. So, I say (frank) him if he's not commited. |

I thought you can't resign with the team that just bought you out. I think they closed that loophole |

Which isn't the worse thing in the world for us.
I don't see him as a long-term solution, but we need a short term solution. Ideally 2-3 years we should have an idea, but I'd take him for one year just to allow RNH to heal and whoever we draft to develop.
Heck come TDD he could be very valuable. |

Yeah, thats the other thing! A late 1st round pick is a given. Add to that a prospect, roster player etc, depending on the season he's having. |

This. Although, not sure to many teams will take him, even for a rental at 8-9 M |

Why does he come here for so little would be my question. At 6 for 1 year there is a lot of teams lining up for him. |

I think we need to pay more if we want a chance as I would see both Montreal and Florida higher up on his priority list. Montreal can afford more and even a team like Toronto who can desperately use a real 1C will also offer quite a lot. |

(frank) yeah- give him 10 mill for the year even- let him develop relationships with the players and develop winning- then sign him for ext during year if it is working out. |

True story...I guess there prpbably will be a few teams that will have the room come the deadline. Not sure how the math works 3/4 through the season. Obviously the team will only pay 2.3M of salary, but what does that add up to in space? The same? |

Most teams will make room if need be... its not like a #1 Center with size is available everyday |

It's probably an upgrade on the Antropov idea...and depending on who we get as our bottom 6 winger(s) it could mean we don't have to track down a Zubrus/Cullen or Smith for a 3rd line centre.
To start the season
Hall-Gagner-Yakupov
Pajaarvi-Lecavalier-Eberle
looks pretty decent

About Eric Belanger...
Anyone know what's going on here? the assumption would be trade, buyout or bury, but that's based in part on the declining relationship he had with coach and management. Now that both are gone, and only Gagner ahead of him on the depth chart, might he stick around for this last year as a 3/4C? I don't think he sucks, but I do think he's sucked in this system and was unwilling to buy into it. Maybe he fits better with the Eakins/MacT style? or has he burned too many bridges? |

I would get antropov as well... then our team dynamics just fast fwded in a HUGE way |
