We have some depth at center but I would love to get Lecavalier signed here. There is going to be a lot of interest tho. He would be great along side Kovy, and would be out top center. We have cap space too. Don't think it will happen but we could just move Henrique to the wing. Think he will get $4-5 million on a short term deal. He has been solid tho still a guy who can put up 60-70 points in a full season. |

When I hear all these Ranger fans talking about how they are going to sign McDonagh long term at Roman Josi type money, it makes my blood boil. McDonagh is such a sure thing that a 4 mil cap hit would be a steal.
I wish a team would sign him to an offer sheet worth about 6+ mil a year. IMO he is worth that cap hit. Either way it would screw the Rangers, like what happened to the Preds last summer. Either they lose their cornerstone Dman, or they lose about 2 mil in cap space from what they would have paid if they match it. - TheJerseyDevil1
I think he's arbitration eligible. Sather likes to low ball his RFAs so I definitely think its a huge possibility that he ends up with a 1 year deal. |

I wouldn't be against it, but I would want to try him on the wing. He's big and has slowed a bit, but playing with Kovy and Lokti might be able to ease the transition to wing considering I don't think he's played there at all during his career. It would also give us a center with Lokti so he doesn't have to take many faceoffs. |

I could see montreal. Going home and puts him on a playoff team. Not sure what their cap situation looks like though. |

Its official, lightning use a compliance buyout of Vinny Lecavalier. Who do you think will pick him up? Maybe Calgary or Dallas? - matty_ice_30

That would be a good story to watch, everyone likes hometown players ...(except us with Parise ). But I was thinking the Nucks are light at center and Torts might wanna bring him over. |

You guys think the more good players that get bought out ups our chances of resigning Clarky ? I think it might if a few more Lecavalier type players get the axe teams will offer these guys 4-5 mill for them maybe they blow most of the space they have made for Clarky on these guys. Thoughts ? |

When you say light at center, I hope you don't mean not good at center. They have Sedin and Kesler, that is pretty damn good if you ask me. |

We could try that or just move Henrique to the wing since he has played there. He could still have 3 or so good years left in him so I would not mind signing him, especially with the amount of cap space we have. |

I was thinking that 3rd line spot that they've been trying to fill the last few years with guys like Derek Roy and Cody Hodgeson. Maybe I'm undervaluing Vinny by seeing him as a 3rd liner, but he's definitely a declining player after his injuries. |

Agreed on not being against it and trying him on wing. A winger who can take draws would be huge don't remember Lokti winning much of any of his draws. He's probably played wing a little at some point. I would think he may have had a few shifts at least with Stammer and St.louis. |

He had a solid year still though being the 2nd line center in Tampa with 32 points in 39 games. Maybe not a ppg player but he can still be a .8 ppg player. |

Still a top 6 guy he's just no where near worth his 7.7 cap hit. He's still capable of at least putting up 40-50 pt seasons in the right situation. |

Imagine if Minnesota was able to lure him into signing an offer sheet as a Minnesota native either this year or after an arbitration deal ends.. Even if they overpaid him, a core of Parise, Suter, and McDonagh would be the next dynasty

They would have a lot of cap locked up in only 4 players though. Already have Parise, Suter, Koivu signed to long term high money deals. Could work though they do have a lot of youth so they may not be sacrificing depth for star power. |

That's a pretty good point actually. The only thing I think Clarkson would have over these guys that makes him more appealing is age and being able to produce over a longer term of time. |

What makes my blood boil is the rangers got mcdonough for scott gomez after every gm in the league knew his contract was atrocious and wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. How the hell sather convinced montreal to take him and give up their best d prospect in the process boggles my mind. |

Agree. Other Atlantic Divison steals that piss me off include:
-Pens getting Neal and Niskanin for Goligoski
-Pens getting Derrik Pouliot and Brendan Sutter for 1 year left of J. Staal even though Staal said he would walk to Carolina for nothing in a year
How does Shero do it? |

He doesn't... Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin do it. Anyone looks good playing next to Sid.
When they get rid of Letang, they're going to get some okay d-man that's going to look really good playing next to Sid. |
