No.
Stastny's value couldn't be lower. Colorado can't afford to pay him (Roy and Sakic are bluffing out their asses when they say they won't be looking to trade him) and nobody who can afford him has the cap space.
There are maybe 2 or 3 possible destinations for him if one of those teams wants to take a chance on a high reclamation project. And let's be honest, he's a reclamation project at that price. - Leeman4Gilmour
The avs have the 2nd most cap space and have 22 players signed, why couldn't they afford him? He will be a UFA and sign for much lower next year anyways.
I agree is value is low but the Avs know what his true value is and won't trade him for nothing. |

He is a quite player for sure and he is overpaid. However with the new CBA a team could trade for him at a Caphit of only 3.3mil which is AMAZING value for what he brings to the ice. His playstyle is all about taking advantage of high percentage shooting lanes. He scores a deceptively large amount of goals and uses his vision and great passing to set up goal scorers while playing a responsible 2 way game with good puck possession. He is excellent on FO as well. No doubt in my mind Kessel would get 50G with Stastny. He is also very effective crashing the net.
Sacco system forced players to dump and chase 100% of the time, never activate D and only took bad shots from the perimeter which really hurt his game. Stastny also rarely got offensive zone starts and was played against the other teams best players, with poor linemates of his own due to the avs lack of depth on the wing.
That is an in look at stastny as a player so take what you may. - Meeqsb
In your opinion is he a top line center on a team that feels that they are a contender? That's where his value lies. |

..and still lost in the 1st round. Try again. Boston certainly didn't play all they could against the Leafs. It's a normal thing to play low when the other team in an underdog. You know it. - Orpik44

I'm pretty sure I saw on TSN a comment by Roy saying Mckinnon starts 3rd line center next year for them so who exactly of Duchene, O'Reilly, Stastny is playing fourth line? |

He's unlikely to pot 30 goals again, but the dude is a (frank)ing beast and we have nobody else right now who can bring his strength on the puck and defensive accumen as a winger (not to mention work ethic). He may not be scoring like a top guy, but his defensive play/PK is top-notch. |

Instead of all this - Phaneuf, Letang, Statsny trade talk - Leaf fans should be thinking of where Reimer ends up |

Why a no no i say 100% fair value. Phanuef is slightly overpaid so is Statsney. Statsney is better then Dechune (spelling) most of the time i see them play and hes on the 2 or 3rd line He would easy get 60-80 points as Kessel's center and be on the top PP |

Some people have complained about that, but he brings a lot to the table. He is a big body and a good defensive forward. He also doesn't get paid a ton. |

Those few are the minority, and pretty clueless. He's probably their 2nd best defensive forward. He's relied on a lot defensively. One of a few forwards that play a strong gritty game for the leafs. Need more of his kind, not less |

The point is you're a dummy and your trade is (frank)ing stupid. If Pittsburgh wants to trade Letang they'll trade him to whoever gives the best offer, regardless of conference. The Pens have Sid and Geno, in case you forgot, so I'm pretty sure they're comfortable with their team regardless of what defenceman is there or not there. - trolleytracks
lol...you're pretty naive. There is more to a trade than just the players involved. Why doesn't PITT trade to PHILLY then? or to the NYR? or MTL? It has always been a huge issue in trading impact players within conference/division... |

Why would Letang/Dion even be on the table? We wouldn't replace Dion with an offensive Dman. |

Dion is worth much more than stastny. Stastny isn't the Center the leafs need. They'd need to add more no doubt. |

Pay for a discount in contract, and you get him for that one year without worrying about the cap implications and being a contender.
In UFA, he'd get a ridiculous deal. 8 years at 64 mil wouldn't be out of the question. |

That one is hard to answer but its kind of just going to get that player 100% for sure and he would sign long term with the leafs right away. once he hit UFA there would be all teams in on him and in the heat of it all may decide that he wants a 10 year 10 mil contract with philly and leafs lose the shot to retain him with no one else getting in the way of the talks. |
