The Pens have Sid and Geno, in case you forgot, so I'm pretty sure they're comfortable with their team regardless of what defenceman is there or not there.

Here is my crack at what might happen Phaneuf for Statsney makes to much sense for both teams similar contracts fills the needs of both teams. Gardiner kulimen 1st 2013 for letang and 1st. Leafs fill the wing holes with Clarkson and Stalberg and sign a defensive D.

Honestly, I hope his point totals are inflated and his defense isn't as exposed as Bylsma makes him out to be.

I just never notice him as a difference maker. He's a solid player but IMO a 2C. Definitely not worth almost 7mil.

He is a quite player for sure and he is overpaid. However with the new CBA a team could trade for him at a Caphit of only 3.3mil which is AMAZING value for what he brings to the ice. His playstyle is all about taking advantage of high percentage shooting lanes. He scores a deceptively large amount of goals and uses his vision and great passing to set up goal scorers while playing a responsible 2 way game with good puck possession. He is excellent on FO as well. No doubt in my mind Kessel would get 50G with Stastny. He is also very effective crashing the net.

Sacco system forced players to dump and chase 100% of the time, never activate D and only took bad shots from the perimeter which really hurt his game. Stastny also rarely got offensive zone starts and was played against the other teams best players, with poor linemates of his own due to the avs lack of depth on the wing.

That is an in look at stastny as a player so take what you may.

He was horrendous in the playoffs, he wants 7+mil, only under contract for one more year, stated preference is the leafs. Sounds like that's a adds up to triple overpayment required.

Players and Coaches both are have been noted saying they don't consider him their best D and he is just too expensive. A lot like the situation with J staal. The system really helped him too.

I dont think we have any interest in Reimer leaving till at least the trade deadline if ever. Pits is fine with the goalie tandem they have.
