I agree, I don't think Letang is what we need, especially considering what we would have to give up. Letang turns the puck over way too much. almost as much as Phaneuf - MapleLeafsFTW
So 1/4 as much as Gardiner |
|

He could, but Letang is guaranteed to be as good as Letang, kinda why it matters.... - ShootingSemin
Lol it would if he was guaranteed,
I question his health, and his ability without Crosby and Malkin. |

Gardiner is still young enough to work on his defensive game. |

He doesn't want to go back to Pitt. I also heard the term wasn't to his liking. He wants 7 mil for 7 years with a NTC. - MapleLeafsFTW

He's 23. Not 18. |

Why?!?! - honesthockey
If we were to move him as part of a package for Letang it could burn us. |

Dude, did you watch any of BOS / PIT?
I can easily see that team inflating his offensive stats, but there is no excusing the missing D.

Honestly dude, its hard to talk Gardiner with you cuz we know you have such a bad bias against him. Hard to take you seriously.
No offense man. I've agreed with you on other stuff before, and I will again, I'm sure, but your Jake analysis is just unrealistic. Although in this particular case, you have a point. You're just exaggerating it. |

23 to a D is like 21 to a forward. He also has less than a hundred games in the NHL and most of those games were with Wilson who isn't good at developing young players. |

Are we (frank)ing kidding that people wouldn't trade Gardiner for Letang? That's insane! - honesthockey
It's a cap world. if you can 1 a fraction of the price with the same skill set and who is younger might get people upset.
it's a gamble I would take. Look at the Kenny Jhonsson (sp) trade to nyi ... |

It wouldn't be straight up though. We would lose this years first and probably Phaneuf. |

Not at all. Still Phaneufs fault. He'd just get a lot less scrutiny if he had a partner that could cover up his mistakes and save his ass. And having a partner that could do half the workload as well as reduce his minutes, and obviously making him play better with less mistakes would be nice. - UsernameUnknown
So his sucking is because he doesnt have a defensive defensemen to babysit him when he makes bonehead mistakes, yeah, that doesnt sound even remotely sensible.... |

Same skill set? (frank) if Gardiner played with 1/4 the toughness I'd be happy. Letang is 100 times better then Gardiner. |

Did you watch the Toronto Boston series? He usually got it out before they got hemmed in, I'd give him a lot of credit for how we did. |
