Hey Cartman, as Kyle's mom says "what what what????? " Well somehow in game 4, Dion was in a stupid defensive position when he let Krecji skate by him to score the OT winner. Dion was also in a stupid position when he wouldn't touch Chara in game 7 on the game tying goal.
So please explain how Dion is so great at being in defensive situations cause myself & most of Leaf Nation don't see it. - GCHonda
Never claimed him to be great. Dion does make a lot of mistakes, yes. But that's because he's just not meant to play the minutes he does. He does everything as a number one guy with no help. Did you see his partners this season? Holzer and Kostka? Im surprised he made it the whole season.
Now honestly, I dont know a lot about letangs defensive play, but there were a few Pens fans in here saying he got exposed bad by Boston. |

You could pair Dion with anyone and he will still make the same boneheaded mistakes, not sure it matters really... |

All you gotta do is imagine the Leafs with no Dion. Pretty scary. |

If Dion gets dealt than yes we'll need Letang so unfortunatley Gardiner gets sacrificed. Much as I hate to give up Gardiner....... gotta do what u gotta do.
Just had a scary thought, Gardiner might rack up some serious points playing with Syd & or Malkin. |

Or he might be such a defensive liability that he only gets on the ice bc of injury. Most overrated player on the ice you ask me.

It matters greatly, actually. He needs a partner that can clean up is defensive mistakes.
Dion is a number 2 defenseman, not 1. And played as a one without a decent 2 just really is a bad idea.
Im all for a better defenseman than Phaneuf, but not one thats better offensively, when we already have a quantity in that. |

Very true. He could have been playing with Bobby Orr & he would still make bonehead moves at the most crucial time. |

No, no it doesnt, he is still making the same stupid mistakes he made in Calgary, so all this time it has been his defensive partners fault he is out of position as often as he is?... |

I hope Reimer works on his glove hand this summer, I have confidence in him. Especially after the playoffs. Such a classy person. I like that Bernier is hungry, but not that he was whining about being stuck behind Quick. It's comforting that we probably have our future goaltender for years to come in one of those two if all goes as planned.
I Don't know what to make of this Letang thing, I heard it was Phaneuf, the first and a prospect. Maybe the prospect is Gardiner, if so that is too much. |

No way Pitts can take on Phaneufs contract, if they could they would likely rather just keep Letang... |

Could end up being just as good as Letang, which to me is the scariest thought. |

They offered Letang 7 mil (he declined) , this is Phaneuf's last year on his contract and he's due for a pay cut. |

I agree, I don't think Letang is what we need, especially considering what we would have to give up. Letang turns the puck over way too much. almost as much as Phaneuf |

He doesn't want to go back to Pitt. I also heard the term wasn't to his liking. He wants 7 mil for 7 years with a NTC. |

Wow Pitts is minus $9 million on the cap. For sure they can't take on Dion's $6.5 mill cap hit. Too bad, I'd rather trade Dion to Pitts & keeo Gardiner. |

Not at all. Still Phaneufs fault. He'd just get a lot less scrutiny if he had a partner that could cover up his mistakes and save his ass. And having a partner that could do half the workload as well as reduce his minutes, and obviously making him play better with less mistakes would be nice. |
