though clearly you're correct, Gagner for Phaneuf+Reimer is a terrible trade for the Leafs.

Gagner for Phaneuf straight up isn't enough return (I know, Oilers probably wouldn't like that either).

Maybe Gagner for Reimer straight up is reasonable, but not really for LEafs as Gagner is not, and never will be, a #1C.

To me he's a terrible defensive centre, he tries, but he's either going to the points when he should stay low, or coming way too low when he should be in the slot. I love his effort, his skill level and his drive to be better, but his defensive hockey sense is terrible.

maybe spraying this in here will clean up the trolls that are infesting the Rangers blog today, this seems to be where they all come from

I think the whole waivers thing with buyouts is actually there to benefit the player, ie. does anyone really think for example that Bryz is happy to be forfeiting so much money because he got bought out? In Vinny's case, he's fine with the buyout because he knows his next contract will be a good one anyways to go with the buyout payout. Did that make sense?

I don't feel sorry for Bryz, he is getting paid millions for 14+ (just a guess) years to do nothing. If he wants to max out his income, he can easily go to KHL and get a fat tax free contract for a few seasons and come out on top.

Watching them argue that Lu has trade value cause he's a great goalie and then saying an injured goalie gets the nod over him in the playoffs is kind of hilarious.

I said it in another thread... if my boss told me he'd pay me 1/3rd of what I make in a year, for the next 8 years, instead of me working here for 4 more years, I'd be ecstatic.

Remember, a lot of money at the end of Bryz's contract was never gonna go to him.
