I would think Van has to buyout Luongo as well.

this is the only get out of jail card available...nobody will take that contract with the penalties for early retirement.

Craig Button I think said that if you have a no movement claus you don't go on waivers for a compliance buyout. I'm 99% sure that if you have a NMC then you are just bought out.. without waivers.. working to find a source for this

A team could let that player "play" for 1 season, and then buy them out next year though. A 1 season press box rental.
