Phaneuf is not getting you anywhere near Landiskog or Duchene. PS is a deal Toronto wins. Avs got burned on Johnson. There's no way they take Dion. Plus they have some really good young d-men in the system already. A veteran, like Ference, makes a tonne of sense. Phaneuf who would be expected to be their #1, not so much. Edmonton makes sense bc he wouldn't be the #1. Gagner is too much in a 1-1 deal. Gagner and Edmonton's 1st for Letang and a prospect makes more sense.

There is no way we get him for anything less than Gardiner + and I'm not so sure I want to move Jake. If he played an entire season the way he did in the playoffs he will win the Norris someday without a doubt. I would move Reilly if they are interested.

As far as Dion goes. Trade him. See how bad our back end looks as soon as hes gone. He plays the toughest minutes in the NHL. Hes over paid but not by much. If he likes Toronto he will extend for 5 million a year. 6.5 is too much for just about anyone on the back end in the league.

I think he fits our needs a bit more than Letang, who is a higher end player but we need defensive minded guys.

Ya ive been saying phaneuf needed help with with a solid #2 being brought in ... But this would make pnuff the #2 witch is good .. Only prob is the money spent on the 2 of them would be crazy and we need to lock up kessel still .... Won't leave much cap room for upgrade at centre or a power forward

Gardiners will turn out to be great, but Letang is what he will turn into. Like what i heard earlier " Not trading Gardiner for Letang is like saying, no i dont want the already made spaghetti sauce, I already have tomatoes." or some poop like that
