Phaneuf is year in and year out voted the most overrated player in the league by a poll amoungst current players.

I also Stastny was in the top of the league for PPGvsQOC and I would argue is currently underrated.

If the leafs managed to get stastny for Phaneuf it would be an overwhelming win for them, especially in Carlyle's system.

If the Avs hold onto the max amount of his final year of his contract possible (which they have no reason not to) they could get a huge return for him. Far better than Phaneuf.

I would take his wife though.

maybe they only believe it would be phaneuf going back, but it might actually be gardiner. letang paired with phaneuf would be pretty sweet. would suck to lose gardiner, but letang is still young.

Bernier had to be traded before his RFA rights were up. JVR proved to be 10000x better than Schenn so in that aspect the trolls more correctly estimated his value than the looney flyers did(GJ on burke). I am not sure what happened for the others.

The leafs have been very fortunate with how the trades turned out, especially with Lupul becoming a force out of nowhere. It is interesting to see how everything turned out though, granted many of those trades were burkes doing. Nonis still has to prove himself.
