This is the year though. I don't see much positives with GArth. He is just a puppet who lets face it if not for the Islanders would never EVER be a GM in this league
- kasperrko

You could make the argument to say all GM's are puppets since they're effectively employees of the ownership. That said, I don't think Wang has had too much to do with this teams transactions over the last couple of years. tough to say though.

Why would Snow have demoted a healthy DP last year only to bring him back this year? I think all parties in the DP saga know that barring an injury, he'll never play for the Isles again. The Isles brought up Poulin and never even played the guy which means that transaction had nothing to do with trying to get Poulin NHL time but everything to do with trying to get DP out.

We can take off the tin foil hats, DP is no longer part of this teams long term plans, he's not an NHL goalie, the team doesn't view him as one and he's not a Free Mason.

or to get DP time in the AHL.

What secret, they announced months ago that they weren't going to Toll his contract plus you have no idea if he hasn't shopped his rights, but they really aren't worth anything for a 39 year old goalie that is 1 year removed from game action & hasn't decided if he's even playing this year.

XxNYIxX

- XxNYIxX

We knew from Day 1 Isles took him for cap hit, not to play. Tolling his contract was never an issue.
But it is strange we hear so many other meaningless rumors on this site. If he was trying actively or entertaining offers, someone would know. Half the nhl fans prob dont even know what team has TT. Its a visibility & a PR thing as well. The Islanders arent the most popular team in the nhl...any press is good press.

The only places I think Wang may have had some input on was DP and Yashin's buyout. Ultimately you have ownerships blessing on big expenses. People could say Homlgren is Snider's puppet since he was technically forced by Ed to sign Bryz to that contract. It happens all over. That said, I don't think Wang had too much to do with the on icre product we saw last year.

The conspiracy theory stuff just seems to be part of the cynical wave that keeps building around here.

lou is not coming unless its straight up for DP. He is not a good goalie anymore, washed up. leave DP in the minors until he retires, draft a goalie this year, sign Jose T, use him and Poulin. Upgrade D with Letang, Ference, ect. Upgrade forwards with one or two of Horton, Clarkeson, Clowe, Penner, Ellias. Let Nino, Dehaan, and Strome all play next year and we will be fine. If you can make a good trade for a guy like Stewart then do so.
- habs&islesfan

I am not a Lou fan, never have been, but washed up? are you high?

I think a lot will have to do with Ricky's pride!!!

Does he really want to split games with Nilsson in Bridgeport.

I'm sure they will be sitting down and discussing this.

I don't mind him playing in Bridgeport... as long as it doesn't affect Nilsson or Poulin's development.

MIN talking extension with Clutterbuck but also talking trade involving him. UFA P-M Bouchard won't be back; Matt Cullen probably not back.

What would you hope to trade him for? What do you honestly think you're going to get? You'd have to trade him for a first round pick to come out ahead since we'd owe Boston a second. It makes no sense! You'd maybe get a 5th or later! So you want to send Boston our second rounder in order for us to get someone elses 5th?
Not harping on you but I just don't get the logic here.

If he reported or they traded him they would have had to give the second round pick to Boston.

I think everybody is worrying about DP a little too much. I would be shocked if he was in the NHL next year. When they sent him down to let Poulin sit on the bench shows that they're done with him.
- NYI44

Does what you wrote make sense, or does them sending him to the minors to get playing time while their prospect who needs playing time sits on bench show they are more concerned with rehabbing DP???

The Pittsburgh Tribune is saying that if they can't agree with Letang, they would trade him for a current NHLer, a top tier prospect and 1st.
Would A. MacDonald, Nino and our 1st be a starting point?

Still has great hands... just an option!!!

Most centres can play the wing... except Bailey....

- jimmc7722

Bailey is a better wing then he is a center.

Per TSN: And, according to Bob McKenzie, the condition is that Thomas plays. If he does (or if the Islanders trade his rights again), the Bruins get the Islanders' second. If he doesn't, the Islanders just acquired him for free.

I think he is done as well... BUT as long as he is still under contract to this team, he is an option & we have seen in the past.. goalies get hurt, sometimes you have to play what you have & as long as he is under contract.. he is what we have.

Just another example of Garth losing on the deal. Asleep at the wheel. You think he has plans in place, maybe he does, maybe they suck. Maybe he flings pencils into the ceiling panels in his office all day. I dont know. But he cant even lock up nabby. They've been talking extension since end of reg season. An offer was made. That we know. It wasnt enough. Why not accomplish that ONE thing, before free agency starts. Why risk losing him? Its baffling. He cant lowball everyone all the time. And if you think he's gonna blow away all others for best FA goalie or trade for Miller ur outta ur mind. Theres a reason hes so active on the waiver. He cant fill holes any other way.

id be curious to know if trading his rights during the offseason would cost the isles...
