and what might that be? Are you saying that you know everything that is going to happen this season?? Can you guarantee me that Garth will make the right moves? Can you guarantee the Islanders will make the playoffs??

the reality for years is that we have been one of the worse teams in hockey. We made the playoffs this year by a thread. Even though they were impressive in the playoff IF the season continued it would have been quite possible we did not make the playoffs.

The reality of what you speak of is that we are still not where we need to be in this rebuild

interesting, my comment to you was in response to something you said about RDP playing next year, but nowhere do you mention that in this terribly put together rant.

Ah, so Philly will be starting next season with Mason, Nabokov, and Mike Smith on the roster? That's doubtful.

Isles aren't starting the year with two kids with a combined 25 games of experience.

- eichiefs9

Well when teams get players they remove others..it was kinda implied and again only my thoughts....it wasn't an E5 or anything....

Thanks junior. I thought maybe having a child would mellow you out a bit but you are still as sarcastic as ever. As for RDP he will be here next year count on that. He will be at camp and the Islanders will go goo goo for him

I do find it odd that you've become progressively more negative since the end of the season. If anything, I figured our little finish would have given you a bit more reason for optimism but you managed to take the other route. We don't have nearly as many holes to fill as we have in previous years. Even if we slightly upgrade at goaltender, we're a much better team. Let's just see how it pans out and try to act a little excited.

I don't know Keaner to me it was a fluke. It was a short season, we were able to hang on by a thread. Garth has to prove something that he is willing to help this team win again this year. I just don't think Garth has the ability to do that. I understand he is the puppet of Wang but still he needs to make an effort sometimes

They didn't demote him this past season just to give him the starting job again this coming season. I'm so sure of that, that if he is the starter come October, you can pick whatever embarrassing avatar you can dream up and I'll use it from October to June.

I don't understand your negativity. This is the first time in 6 years that we have a reason to be positive and all you do is talk negatives. Lets wait to bash Garth. He might not do anything, but you have to give him some time. This season would actually be okay if he doesn't do as much.

Smith & Nabby? And they are getting all this cap space from where?

XxNYIxX

- XxNYIxX

Geez guys I didn't predict all there moves going into next season...they can gain cap space, as you know, by moving others. I didn't say they were keeping 3 goalies nor did I try to predict their entire salary for the season...I made a comment I could see Nabby there and Philly going after Smith.

My problem is why not buy him out and use the money elsewhere to better the team. No reason to keep the guy around then.
- kasperrko

they still might. The amnesty period doesn't expire till next week and they can still do a regular buy-out that won't eliminate his cap hit. I bet Wang would rather buy him out as a regular buy out instead of an amnesty buy out to keep the $1.5M cap hit.

Point being, lets wait and see what this team does over the next 10 days before we act as if the sky is falling.

This is the year though. I don't see much positives with GArth. He is just a puppet who lets face it if not for the Islanders would never EVER be a GM in this league

I could say the same to you as well. The Islanders for years kept DP lingering around. For what?? Just to be a cancer to this team. It was weird once they demoted him this team started playing a lot better and actually winning. The defense was nto afraid to play in front of any other goalie. I am just saying for years the Islanders have kept him part of this team. I understand the contract and all but if you have an out clause you take it and get rid of the last piece that has haunted this team for years

I don't know if Vinny is the answer. Been getting hurt a lot lately, and I also thought he was a center

Wang would probably want the normal buyout so he can use the cap hit.

Sad... but true.

I wish he would just sell the team to a rich Russian guy....

Still has great hands... just an option!!!

Most centres can play the wing... except Bailey....

It is what I do. I look on the other side of things. There is still a lot of ?'s with this team and so far for the past few year there has been no answers. I just don't see why this year will be different. We are still playing in Nassau, (which Garth will use an excuse), we barely survived to make the playoffs with the same team we have been throwing out there year by year.

He should stay clear of Montreal... the fans and media will eat him up.

He needs a nice quiet place like Long Island!!!

Maybe after the buyouts we add Vinny and Loungo....

He'll go to Montreal...I think Isles pickup either MacArthur, Slazberg, Bickell or Bozak as FA's for forwards...or if Clutterbuck or Ryan are available...I hope they go in that direction...Ferrence or Scuderi on defense...maybe use a garbage can for goalie...

I think the fact that Garth gave a 'no comment' response to the DP buyout possibility speaks volumes. If they were utterly sure that he'd still be here, they'd say "No, Rick is an Islander and we're proud to have him" etc etc.

For all reports, the team is not sure what to do yet. I think they're trying to gauge if anyone will take his contract and what players get bought out.
