Can you imagine how far the Flyers fall with Nabby in net & Streit in front of him? Id kind of feel bad for them.

They'd fall all the way to overtime in game 6 of the Conference quarterfinals |

Vry possible. Frankly if I was GM, I'd have a series of plans. Halak would be one of them.
Perhaps something like:
1. Luongo as free agent
2. Mike Smith as free agent
3 Jaroslav Halak as cap casualty trade.
4. Jonas Hiller
5. Resign Nabby
And his list could likely be much longer than that. So we'll see how everything pans out, but I seriously doubt we get left with an empty bag and only Poulin on the big club. If we do, then those who have continually hammered Snow would have every right to continue to do so.

we are way below the cap, but I think well trade Halak. We cant carry 3 goalies this year too.

No reason to pay Halak with a young, talented, and (most importantly) cheap Jake Allen waiting in the wings. I definitely see you guys moving Halak, especially after his blowout with Hitch in the playoffs. |

He would def be a good fit for you guys. Probably wont cost more than a 2nd rounder.

Dee- whatever happened to Art Staple as a source?
He tweeted the same thing.
This should come as no surprise. As much as Nabby has made a home for himself here, his agent would be negligent NOT to test free agency. Doubtful he'll be offered the primary starting position with many other teams but Garth's offer is probably just North of what other clubs with cap space and a bigger budget would offer a vet backup of Nabbys calibre. Unless a proven upgrade is in Garths sights risking his loss would be a bad way to kick off the free agency. Poulin is not ready to take on the starting role, IMO. Not with our current defense. Wonder why we hear zero mention of Tim Thomas? Either way, we have his rights. If hes 100% NOT an option, his rights should have been shopped and Garth should be public about such things. There's no sense keeping the obvious a secret. - jmo16
What secret, they announced months ago that they weren't going to Toll his contract plus you have no idea if he hasn't shopped his rights, but they really aren't worth anything for a 39 year old goalie that is 1 year removed from game action & hasn't decided if he's even playing this year.

Well you'd have to settle for our 2nd rounder next year, Anaheim will be enjoying this year's 2nd for the services of Mr. Visnovsky.
Halak and Khudobin (signing) are the realistic guys I hope we go after. Hiller won't be moved, Miller would cost too much and Luongo's contract is an abortion, via the trade route. I'd be OK with Emery or Smith via free agency also. |

I agree. I have no problem not bringing back Nabby. Having said this, Snow needs to go out and bring in a quality goalie. Isles cannot slip back this year. They need to build off making the playoffs. - ses111

If he reported or they traded him they would have had to give the second round pick to Boston. |

There's no pressure to buy him out right away. The Islanders currently have ~$29.2M in cap space, with only Hamonic, Bailey, and Hickey due to get significant raises (or even just a contract). Even with those 3 players getting raises, it will hardly make a dent in that. There's plenty of time to buyout DP down the road, it's not a pressing issue at this exact point in time. - eichiefs9
It is because if and when he gets hurt, they cannot buy him out |

Exactly. Besides that, if the rights to Streit brought only a 4th, what on earth would a near 40 year old goalie who hasn't played in over a year bring? Nada.

Scary thought one of the reasons Nabby is going to FA is because Snow won't give him a yes or no answer on DP playing next year |

lmao you're nothing but paranoid. Nabby probably wants two years and Garth doesn't want to give it. C'mon be realistic. |

Snow knows the importance of goaltending. Is will get someone that will help us.
Snow is stingy with his contacts. By the time jt becomes a ufa his contract going to be best value in hockey.
Lets get hamonic and bailey signed long term as a top priority.
I could see a team putting out offer sheets on those guy if they don't.
Isles should sign Horton for jts right wing too |
