The spark Mac-T had with Eakins and the way Eakins comes across with his version of the "buy-in", I'm super positive about the culture of this team going forward.

A few of the right moves, maturation, Player/Coach relations...I think the Oilers will explode in a couple of years.

The one thing that MacT has done already that has really impressed me is he is very open in his views to what is needed.

He had no plan on getting rid of Kreuger, but Eakins came in and just sold MacT on his vision. Reminds me a lot of Babcock being sold by the players in Detroit that their system was better than his. Babcock adjusted his ways and the rest is history.

Hopefully the same can be said about MacT. Had a plan, someone pitched him a better one and is now adjusted his game plan.

The more I think about this, the more I like the idea of Bryz coming in as a backup....

We have Cheechoo who scored 50in06. Who scored 50in04, and who is washed up.

I like it man. I'm not so sure. So many variables...new coach, some new players, a series of other ifs and the Oilers still suck a bit.

You're getting a quality coach in Eakins, trust me on this 1. PLUS, a training camp before this season now and a pre-season. So worst case you have a rough month and all uphill from there.

Yeah, I take a flyer on him easy. Though I somehow doubt the Oilers want to offer anymore then two years. Some dumb GM could go four or five. Though, his value is pretty low so it does make some sense that he tries very a solid 1/2 year deal to raise that value again.
