Would something like Bolland the hawks first rounder and Pirri be enough to get Tallon to fork over FLA's first rounder?

I know right.

Can't believe it.

The rich getting richer is applied to my favorite team.

We kinda deserve it though.. All those years of being only 4 fans in our section after all the dedication in the 80s.....

Ditto. Loyalty pays off eventually ! We definitely deserve it

Very doubtful.

The Panthers would be giving up a blue chipper for 2 depth players and a lower first round pick.

I think TT and/or Leddy has to be in the deal.

Eli would know best, being a Rockford guy. I am betting he would agree Clendening is still not ready.
- Return of the Roar

EK for sure knows about Clendending...but the question was really about Jones.

Is he NHL ready ? Not so sure.

Bolland, TT, and Pirri for sure. I see TT as an expendable asset as long as the Hawks plan on keeping Kane. I keep saying it though, anything going to Florida needs to bring back Mathias, he'd fit very well for the Hawks needs.

Plus, D-men drafted that high seem to have a higher potential to be total busts. I have no numbers to back that up, but it sure seems that way.

Jovanovski
E.Johnson
B.Berard
Hamrlik

#1 overall dmen that didnt ever come close to that hype

I think Pirri is the Hawks 2C next year. Don't see him moving.

My opinion would be that Clendening needs another year in Rockford, at least. However, if Leddy is indeed on the move, I could totally see Bowman rushing him to Chicago just like Leddy was, and hyping him just like he did with Leddy.

Yes.

2 Stanley Cups since he was drafted and this guy has never even sniffed a jockstrap at the UC in that period of time.

A future Vancouver Canuck or Calgary Flame.

Me too. Boy who has not proven he can play with the men. Worse yet, if he fails at the NHL level, he loses all value for trade.

THIS

Potential game breaking forward/generational type player will get drafted over an 18 year old blue liner. The Hawks - on the other hand - have the players to trade to move up to get someone like Jones. Should be interesting.

- CaptainBlackhawk

Maybe, but Colorado's pretty stacked with high end, young forwards...not so much on D. For them to pass on a supposed game breaking/generational type D-man when that's their greatest positional need, might be telling.

But what do I know, I would have traded Sharp last off season.

Or send a massive package to Colorado and make MacKinnon 2C next year

Maybe they deal Statsny for a veteran D guy....hard to read what is up Roy's sleeve.

No way is this the case. They're not going to slot a guy into the 2C role who they wouldn't even bring up for a test-drive this year. Clearly, the Hawks are not that high on Pirri's game, probably because while he is a good play maker, he lacks things that Q likes for his system.

This is such a fantastic year....just because cup win, and now we move into the frenzy that starts tonight at 10 pm CST.

Fact is.....you are going to have to absorb 2 combined cap hits totaling 5 million next summer when the resign Kane and Toews for 8 yr deals. You have Hammer...who is going to be worth around 4.5-5 million per year. Seabrook, sharp....so at some point you have to balance out the core's increases with cheaper 2nd and 3rd tier players....

They don't have in house replacement for Bickell. If they can carry Dave Bolland's 3.335 salary for the past 5 years and have him play 3rd/4th line minutes.....can they afford Bickell? Yes.....they took a LARGE gamble on Bolland after the 2009 playoff run, so why not bickell? Large, power forwards are hard to come by, and Bickell has had the light go on each year in regards to improvement.

Hossa is the wild card. Does he retire? If not, Hawks HAVE to keep a CBO handy for next summer. I love Hossa, but that cap hit of 5.275 until 2021 is very hard to justify and they can't be on the hook for that. He hits 35 in January, and even if you trade him you still will be on the hook for some $. The difference in money assumed by Wirtz by CBO Hossa this year (21.13) vs next year (15.87) is a little easier to swallow. Assuming he's ready early enough when the season starts.

How much is Kruger worth? Can't see them trading Frolik only because of his value being such a huge variable in being able to play the PK, a checking role, and enough skill to fill in top line minutes.

Lastly, Nick Leddy....last time the Hawks had a young promising D man, Bowman got blind sided by an offer sheet. I gotta assume if Leddy is asking for LARGE money you have to entertain trading him or taking the picks. At 3.5-4 million is he worth it? Considering the $$ they have tied up in D men already?

Only Stan knows....but these next 10-14 days will really show the moxy of our GM and our ability to reshape our team, without taking multiple steps back. Excited to see how it plays out.

I still think Colorodo takes Jones.

If the Avalanche take Mackinnon or another forward leaving gaping holes at D thevAvalache will be the Oilers.

If the Avalanche don't take Jones it's because they traded down to acquire more assets.

Why would any player like Hossa in his right mind just retire with years left on his contract at big money? He knows he could be bought out because of CBA rules or could just go on LTIR if he physically can't perform.

If anything Hossa would tell the Hawks he doesn't want to play anymore and they would say fine we will buy you out so we don't get killed with the cap hit rules.

Rather have a good young forward at this point...we're solid defensively with current guys and guys in the system.

Yep...he's long gone....

2c could very well come down to Piri vs Leblanc. Unless they find an outside replacement. See smith sliding into stalberg's role on the wing, and hayes maybe Morin on the other side of Shaw. Bickell becomes the Brouwer with kane and Toews....

I would hate to see Hossa go but he's earned the right to go out on top. He's played a lot of hockey in the past 6 years and no doubt his body is worn down. Hossa is a class act that can never be replaced, if he retired from playing I'd like to see the Hawks keep him with the club somehow (i.e. front office staff or coaching staff).
