If Gervais and Streit are in the starting six together the other 4 D better be ready for all the tough minutes.
- Marc D

They played together (in a pairing) for a bit with the Isles. Maybe they'll try and "rediscover the magic"

I wouldn't put Luke on the PP until we have to. I know it sounds nuts but I would split Hartnell and Simmonds. Hartnell is better being used as a screen and deep in the crease imo.

I'm down with that...both are money in the low slot, would be nice to have one on each unit.

I dunno I feel like it's a waste of great PP talent in Streit though. Man deserves 1st PP time. Our 1st unit is so good that the 2nd doesn't get much time, anyways. Just the last 30 seconds if anything.

The Flyers are rumored to be acquiring EVERY player in the NHL. Also we are apparently trading Mezaros for 10 1st round picks, a clone of Mario Lemieux and the holy grail.

Gotta give Holmgren big time points for restraint. You just know he wanted punch Barkann right in his smug face.

Was it a joke? I just thought the fire alarm went off and Barkann just did what Barkann does...be a super douchebag game show host.

I was just sad Homer didn't stab him in the throat.

He certainly wanted to. Completely unprofessional on Barkann's part. We'll see how soon he get's a sit down with Holmgren again.

haahah Homer literally didnt bat an eye lash. I love how he puts Barkann in his place just by not feeding into it. Barkann was probably so embarrassed

i dunno, for whatever barkann is or how he's expressed his opinion in the past, it's his style to inject levity into a situation. i think the bias people here have against the local media has left them jaded to the point of being humorless.

iow, sometimes we have to lighten up.
tough day for homer, but he might want to try it on for size himself.

just my opinion.

If Mez is truly healthy and can get back to form, he's a pretty good two way d man who brings puck moving and a good shot...Coburn should have a bounceback year, so maybe we get more from him. If Timo and Streit stay healthy as well, with Gus, they rovide some nice puck movement and offense...if all that falls into place, the D isn't that bad at all...problem is, I don't think the odds favor all of those players being healthy at one time...tough to see that happening given what we've seen over the years

- exlund

I agree completely. It's do, don't we game with the D. Homer must call Meszaros, Grossman and Timonen daily just to make sure they haven't tripped and fallen.

So, just so I get you straight, you think it was his attempt to inject levity into the situation? Homer just basically admitted to making a mistake with the signing, has had to deal with the horrifically unprofessional sports writers (barkann being one of them) who have made it their job to take any and all shots at Bryz, and yet, in a serious interview with the GM (discussing our issues in net) Barkann yells out "ANOTHER GOAL SCORED". The guy is a clown.

I dont think you can called it being jaded to the point of humorless when its not funny.

Our first PP unit has crazy impressive chemistry. The second almost seems like a non-factor at times. Balance.

I laughed. Sophmoric humor is in my wheelhouse. Holmgren is a pretty intimidating guy, I'm kind of surprised Barkann had the balls to do that.

Its not that he had the balls, there was a camera in the room. He wasnt thinking... you can tell he surprised himself because he immediately apologized afterwards.

barkann is what he is and he's been in town long enuf where they know his style. he's an improv guy and he tries to entertain. while he can come off like a clown, they also know he's a good guy...heavy into charity work and loves the town. i didn't think it was funny either, but to me, it was an attempt at injecting humor that fell flat.

and when you phuck up on a scale that large, sometimes you have to throw your hands up and acknowledge any humor you can find, instead of walking around looking like a serial killer.
