Let's run it down, then, as to who's laughing at the Flyers -- and whether they're qualified to do so:

Pittsburgh Penguins: All in with no cup, Marc-Andre Fleury benched, no first-round pick this year, no second round picks the next two years
New Jersey Devils: No first-round pick next season because of cap circumvention with Ilya Kovalchuk, let Zach Parise leave for free, could lose Patrik Elias and David Clarkson for free
New York Rangers: Wade Redden. Brad Richards has seven years left on his contract at a cap hit of $6.7 million per.
New York Islanders: Rick DiPietro

Clearly, nobody in the former Atlantic Division's got anything to be smiling about. So whose fanbases are laughing, again? Edmonton's? Winnipeg's? Carolina's?

I guess Boston and Chicago could have a chuckle, but every other team in the league has plenty of skeletons in their closet.

Devils and penguins fans can reach into their closet and pull out multiple Stanley cups in my lifetime

Rangers fans can rest knowing they have a better young team and just hired a better coach than ours

Islanders fans have dipietro

And having to buyout Bryzgalov is going to set this franchise back a decade! Oh wait, no it's not! It's going to have zero effect on the future of the team!

It should have a net positive effect on the future of the team.

If they use the Cap space to make the right moves, yes.

Also, Pens beat guy Rob Rossi says the Letang trade talks are heating up, Toronto going hard after him.

I would assume they may deal Phaneuf if they can acquire Letang. JVR a Pen? You never know.

Ah, so your goal is to win an infantile pissing contest with other fans. Good to know.

Which could have dominoes of another defenseman coming available if Toronto is successful. If he's not part of a possible deal.

I believe that the Flyers added Streit to try and replace what they lost in Carle. Not as even a temporary replacement for Timonen. The only place that Streit is an equal to Timonen, is on the point on the PP. The Flyers are under no illusion that Streit comes even close to replacing Timonen in the future.
It's a decent defense, not a great one.

There is no question that we missed Carle this year but all my questions are unanswered. I think our D is a mess with question marks of nagging injuries and we might be in danger of moving healthy bodies if the injuried ones cannot go (according to any Coburn rumours). Then if everyone is healthy, outside Mezaros, why move anyone to make space for anyone else unless they are a number 1? Being honest with myself, I know there isn't a number 1 out there!!!

Devils re-sign Zubrus, 3 years per Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record.

Recite this:

In the past ten years, the Flyers have won more playoff rounds than 25 other NHL teams.

Pretty good for a bunch of (frank)ing morons, huh?

Who are the other 5?

Well if they can move a Meszaros and bring in a replacement for less money. That added Cap space gained could help them do something else to improve the team.

I think he will flop anywhere else. I will take Phanuef if they are giving him out. Lupul would look good wearing the "C"

I guess it's more of a pub crawl than a parade.

I get being frustrated, I do. I don't get trashing everything about the team you root for because of it.

I really thought if they do move Letang it would be out west. I just figured Calgary would be in the front of the line with a deal involving Giordano, 1st rounder plus another asset. I can't imagine Shero would trade Letang without getting a top 4 d-man back in the trade. Martin had a decent year, but to expect some of their young d-man in the minors ready to step up next year, I think is a stretch.

I think that any Leafs deal would have to include Reilly or Gardiner coming to Pittsburgh. Phaneuf is getting mentioned on twitter, but that doesn't help the Pens cap, which is primary reason to move Letang now, to avoid possible offer sheet

I might be the only one unwilling to part with Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Mason, The Schenn Brothers, Couturier and Gustafsson. Read is the guy I see going to add anything trade wise.

I saw Gretzky play maybe 10 times with the Oilers, Kings and Rangers. The thing about him was that he didn't seem all that special. He wasn't real fast, not real big, didn't have a real hard shot, wasn't physical at all. He was none of these things.

But what he did have, was the ability to see the game three steps ahead of everyone else on the ice, and it was OBVIOUS. He didn't seem better, but he just was. Other teams tried to hit him, he just wasn't there to be hit. Other teams tried to keep the puck away from him, so he just went where the puck would be. I never saw a guy find the open man better than he did. He knew you were open before you did.

He did things faster than the other team could react, but at the same time noticeably slowed the game down when the puck was on his stick. It was amazing to watch.

If it is in NJ, then no, not really. They will just drive around the parking lot a few times.

I don't think the Rangers have a better youth core than we do. You're undervaluing our youth.
