What do you think Halak would cost via trade?
- FlyerLifer

they would ask for...

wait for it...

Couts or Schenn!

so too much but
honestly I don't know if a fair deal could be worked out, I know what St Louis would want and its not Mezsaros, likely not Read to get it done.

I think he is very promising, and want to keep him unless they can get back a Kimmo replacement in the deal.

Ritch Winter's whole "Bryz couldn't see the puck" routine is a repeat

“I’m sure Ilya would tell you those weren’t his best four games,” Winter said. “But how many of those goals he allowed did he see?”

I remember being so happy when they signed him, then the roenick phone call... The whole thing was surreal.

I just don't know what type of player he is and that raises some flags.

Maybe Winter should get Bryz some glasses so his client stops finding himself out of work.

Winter's doing his job, though...I just find it funny that he's singing the refrain about Bryz seeing the puck.

What a bizarre situation.

Bryzgalov's getting paid, albeit slower than they'd like. He made huge amounts in his time with the Flyers, because his deal was frontloaded.

I get it: He wants his client to be viewed as a better goaltender than his numbers show. I get it.

But no matter what Ritch Winter says, you can't explain away Steve Mason's performance, Sergei Bobrovsky's performance in 2011, and Michael Leighton's performance in 2010.

Those guys saw the puck just fine. And more importantly, they sure stopped them well enough, in the regular season -- hell, Leighton had three shutouts in the Eastern Conference final against Montreal.

Bryz didn't play well, or at least well enough.

But in another 3 hours and 12 minutes, he will no longer be of any concern for me or the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ha! Yeah. I keep waiting to see what Vancouver's going to do, but I guess they really are serious about not buying Luongo out. Gotta give them credit -- they're as stubborn a franchise I've ever seen.

He was good when the team committed to playing defense in front of him. The reason he got bought out sooner rather next year is because of his big mouth. In my opinion it was obvious he wanted a buyout so they have it to him.

I know, they have to move a D contract.

But I think Lu is going to get a similar deal to Streit, 4 yrs 21-22M or something.
A lot for a 34 yr old.

My preference is to see if Halak or one of the Annaheim goalies can be traded for a fair deal.

Lu is a good second choice.

Emery is the fall back, but I think it is very risky having Emery/Mason.
It could work out, but could blow up too.

I understand and respect the idea of going with Mason and a cheap back up for a year or two. Saves money, keeps the young guys together.
If it blows up though it will likely cost Homer his job.

He had stretches of brilliance. But the team played far more solid defense down the stretch last year, and Bryz was badly outplayed by Mason.

His words and actions didn't help, but the bottom line is, they couldn't sustain the commitment to Bryzgalov with his level of play being merely average
