Maybe I'm alone on this but here is my feeling on the young group of this team. A little ways back on this board I read that we could afford to keep Matt Read, while also keeping all of our young players intact. I like Matt Read, I do. The problem for me is, I feel there are no game breakers within this group. There is no question in my mind that the most recent clutch players on this team were Danny Briere and Claude Giroux. Now we've lost Briere. If I had to risk Matt Read to find a guy who can break a game wide open, I would. Maybe the Flyers should put a little more focus on the need of Matt Read but the organization feels that somehow they need to get bigger up front. That could very well mean the movement certain young players. In my mind Claude Giroux, Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier are the future faces of this team. Then I see a little more need for Jake Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, Scott Hartnell and whatever star we pick up to possibly put Giroux over the top at the elite level. I could very well be wrong. This is just how I feel. I like Matt Read but in 2 seasons he has yet to stand out anymore then anyone else on the roster. I think he's right there on par within development with all our other young players.

A player has to grow into being a game breaker. Jake Voracek was in the top 20 in the League in scoring, and in the top 10 in the League in goals scored. He is as much a par tof the future of this team as any other player is.

If Loungo becomes a free agent he'll take less to play in Florida and that's where he'll end up. Philly once again is going to gamble on cheap goaltending? When did Hextal retire? Long time without good goaltending.

Chicago won it twice without all-star goalies. Vancouver had both Loungo and Schneider and couldnt win. Goalie isnt the end all be all.

Ron Hextall never retired. He is slumbering in the halls of Valhalla and will be unleashed during Ragnarok.

@HackswithHaggs: Per Peter Chiarelli, Patrice Bergeron played through "a small hole in his lung. He was a warrior with all he played through."

What the hell are you serious?

I cut my finger playing tennis yesterday and ran around yelling like a woman for 2 minutes.

Throw his ass on anti-biotics, that's just asking for a severe infection.

That he didn't win the cup is also, somewhat, deflating.

Too soon?

Explains why he's in the hospital now. Probably has a chest tube.

Chiarelli announced Ference won't be signed. Flyers should definitely have interest in him.

The lung is kind of spongelike. How does one have a hole in one's lung? Just asking one of our medical aficionados.

It's interesting how Lindholm's passed him in the consensus rankings...
- Tomahawk

I'm high on Lindholm...really skates/plays hard out there, solid two-way game, high skill level...personally, I always had him ranked ahead of Monahan.
