well, tsn states in edm franchise history of 24 years, never ever selected a d-man with the first pick. if history follows itself, monahan, lindhom, or nichushkin could be the pick.
- deks1

Petry was also our first pick in 2006.

Also franchise history of 24 years? What does that even mean?

(frank)ing Clouts got a new gig working at TSN?

Nichuskin hasn't played an NHL game... Remember a former top 10 pick named Magnus Prv? He's supposed to be a (frank)ing all star if we go back 3 years. Instead he's a tweener. Not enough skill to be top 6 and is a complete puss.

Nichuskin could very well be that.

- Pilgor09

you are right, he could. but, he is projected to have a much higher ceiling then Magnus ever had. some scouts say Nichuskin is a talented as any player this year. If he was North American, he would be right up there, if not ahead, of Drouin. He is a beast. at 7, he is a steal. but, i like Nurse and Monohan, too.

Mact said yesterday that maybe they need to build a line around Gagner. that tells you something.

Well 24 years takes us to the late 80's. What the (frank) did he count the years where this team was actually good?

Yeah, Ebs ate three hot dogs, wow

Big Buff ate a dozen, so there

- flyerdude17

I seen big Buff just buy a whole hot dog stand, then he proceeded to wheel it down the street while whistling the Oscar Myer Weiner song.

all this history and stats are mind boggling anyways. the first time the wings won the cup with lidstrom as captain, analysts will say no european captain ever won the stanley cup, so forecasting wings would not win the cup with lidstrom as captain? funny.

if nichushkin was there at 7th, i prob would pick him. having him on the lw with gagner or nuge and yak on the other wing would be interesting as we all would know.

DSF said it would take Eberle+7th+ to get Hanzal. That guy's as smart as Steinley. I'd say 30-40% of online oiler fans are out to lunch. Most do their research

That Hanzal... he's so hot right now.

I think Rasmus Ristolainen is the better prospect than Nurse

And how much scouting experience do you have? Seriously how much have you seen them play?

Let the professional scouting services do their job.

I agree...these comments make me laugh. I have prefered picks because I think we need this type of player or that type of player and the Hockey News scouting report says such and such has these attributes...and when it comes down to concensus I assume the "pros" know what their talking about. I think it's hilarious how a guy who watches a couple of junior games a year, subcribes to the hockey news and has access to youtube seems to know more than the guys that NHL teams pay hundreds of thousands a year to actually scout.

but...but...eklund said it, it must be true. Either way it sounds like he is coming to Alberta

I do think the oilers could go after Stalberg or Bickell. Prices may be high though. Thoughts?

Me too! Nurse looks like he could be a beast in a couple of years. Our defense needs some beasts.

I want Bickell - price will be steep. But the oilers need more players that compete and are hard to move off the puck.

Look what he did when he was on a line with Toews and Kane. I know both those guys are elite talents but you need a workhorse to play with your skilled guys.

I suppose. I think Bickell will be terribly overpaid, but he would help the Oilers. I like Stalberg but I wonder where he really fits on this team.We don't need the most talented guy to slide into our top 6.Just a bigger body that can win the puck on a forecheck and helps his line mates get scoring chances-AND be a factor in preventing goals against. I think a trade for Kulemin would be something I would explore if I were Mac T.

I like Bickell, but we all know he will get some serious $$$ thrown at him. What do you think is a reasonable price? That being said, even if the Oilers overpaid for him he would still fill a huge hole in their lineup, kind of like Wideman down here.

Too me Bickell has just barely scratched the surface and still has potential. I don't know what is a reasonable price but I'm assuming he will get at least 4 mil. The oil will have to pay 4.5 mil to get him. But then again what do I know. I'm never sure of what guys are worth until some GM pays them an absurd amount of money.
