Last year he had a .916 save percentage and 2.59 GAA. That is pretty respectable, especially considering that he played most of his season with Columbus and finished it out with a struggling Philadelphia defense.

Seriously? Well we don't mean to hurt your feelings, but Mr. Gillis put himself into this position. It's not going to end well. Don't you think we'd have liked to trade Bryzgalov instead of buying him out? Nobody wants him for the contract he signed with us. Speaking hockey trades, supply and demand there are more goalies then places that actually want them. We disagree that Ek is trying to saboatage the situation, I think everyone is well aware that Luongo is going to have to get bought out.

You certainly missed my point. Nowhere did I say Gillis was a brainiac for creating this contract. Clearly his contract is poor. Obscene even. But it was signed in the last CBA under different rules so I prepared to say, while a poor contract, it was not a totally stupid move.

And no, Ek's position is always pro-flyers. If you disagree with that, there is something wrong with your comprehension of this site.

Lastly... unlike the Flyers --- who had to buy out IB, the Canucks will not and just put him on waivers and spent not a dime doing so. BUT --- now that is known that the Canucks are willing to do this, it could easily cause any other interested team to take a shot and offer a 7th round pick in return. Now maybe there will be no one who wants the contract as it sits but they can always do the same thing next year that the Canucks are doing now. Ek never seems to offer this type of information.... you know.... the kind that would be questioning the Flyers.

The headline today should have been how glouriouly stupid the Flyers were with IB's contract and signing the wingnut in the first place and how they have created a glut with Mason but no---- that will never happen. He would never risk alienating himself from his flyer connection. (s)
