well you're getting a potential #1 goalie and a decent prospect in Rau. I'd give you Bjugstad instead if you want. He's a bum and won't project into anything. He came up at the end of the season, he's soft for a big body center. Tallon has failed this team like the GM's before him. His first draft was a joke, Gudbranson 3rd overall sucked, Bjugstad and Howden later in the round equally as bad. I know it's early but these guys are lazy and soft. Panthers have the top prospect pool but there's no talent there. Huberdeau was the only one they hit on, everyone else stinks.

Rising? He won the Calder about 4-5 years ago and has been
Going downhill since, no?

- BobbySchmautz

The 3 years after winning the calder he averaged a .899 SV% and a 3.16 GAA. This year he had a .916 SV% and 2.59 GAA. Since he joined the Flyers he has a .944 SV% and 1.90 GAA. The past four years he has played for a below average team (They didn't even make the playoffs when they had the Vezina trophy winner behind them). He is 25 and showed major improvement this year. The seven games he played with the Flyers is just a glimpse of things to come.

Someone tell Feaster that TSN's last draft ranking has no U.S. high school or college players in Top 30.

Schenn brothers. Simmonds, Couterier, and Voracek. Yeah, he got fleeced.
- Flyers1218

He got killed on the jvr for schenn trade. Yes Braden schenn looked good at times this year there was a point where I said he was better than giroux (because he was actually playing better than giroux). But he still takes bonehead penalties and his play is inconsistent. Couterier is great defensively and will be a great defensive forward in the nhl for a long time but he was leaned upon to produce scoring this year and it didnt work out. He is still young an developing but I have my doubts about him developing offensively. Simmons and voracek were good gets.

The same Flyers fans that worried about Bernier being unproven want to hold their hat on 7 games by Steve Mason.... which was after Lavy finally adjusted his system, no less.

$23 million to send him home......which they say opens up another $12 million in cap space which they will turn around and spend again on a different player or two........so..........$35 million to have a player not play for your team?

They ought to be ashamed!!! Holmgren should be fired for this!!

We ought to be embarrassed in front of the rest of the world for this kind of crap!!!! Shameful first world problems!!

Florida ownership doesn't have the type of money to pay players to not play for them and replace them with players they also have to play.

Right, he got "killed" on the Schenn for JVR trade. And what happened? Schenn was easily the Flyers best defenseman this year. And as the year progressed JVR slumped and Schenn continued to get better. He didnt trade two 2nds for Douglas Murray. He restocked a team void of youth, that beat Pittsburgh (with Bryzgalov in net) in the playoffs. It's also fairly obvious, Bryzgalov was a Snider mandate. You can't argue the sense of the Richards and Carter trades. He got extremely good value for both. People just get a hard on bc they won a cup on LA as role players in front of a red hot goalie.

I think I have an idea, hear me out.

Flyers told the Canucks they want Luongo, but not the contract. Flyers tell Gillis, if the Canucks buy out Luongo, the Flyers will reimburse the Canucks 50% (or some other $$$) for doing so and will give the Canucks a draft pick +. Canucks discussed with Luongo and he has agreed to waive no trade clause on condition he is getting bought out and will sign with the Flyers.

Do I get a gold star??
- CanuckforLife

Sorry, let me clear this up, I may have not got my point right. Luongo does not have to waive his no trade clause to get bought out. Lets say Gillis says to Luongo that Philly wants you, but not the contract. They have agreed to cover 50% of the cost to buy you out with the Canucks covering the other 50%. Gillis then tells Luo, for this to happen you have to agree to sign with Philly and only Philly once you have been bought out. Perhaps the Canucks get 2 second round picks and assistance buying Luongo out, Philly gets Luongo who they sign to a REASONABLE 2-3 year deal.

Makes sense to me....maybe only to me lol.

Aside from Lu not wanting to go to Philly, this is where your plan may not work.

Depends on the wording of the buyout provision... but I doubt a buyout can be shared... any lawyers in the house?

I would have had no problem if we trade for Bernier, he is an outstanding goaltedner. However, that boat has sailed, my point was that rather than spending big bucks for someone like Luongo would be a mistake since we just freed up cap space by getting rid of Bryz's bad deal. I think that with the cap space opened by the buyouts, the flyers should focus on strengthening their defense and maybe getting a low budget veteran goalie to mentor Mason.

Being the best defenseman on this flyers team is about as impressive as seeing a 2 legged human.

I beg to differ. I believe that Timonen, although old, has proven himself as an outstanding defenseman

and I agree with you. I don't blame you. Bjugstand should have been traded a year ago. Tallon let Garrison walk, now Weiss is the next to go. There's more talent being subtracted from this team than anything else. That's the opposite of rebuilding a team. It's too bad Huberdeau will have no one to play with for the next 5-7 years.
