Yes you are right but Van has said time and time again no buyout. Would you walk into the owners office say cut me a check for 64 mill for a player othet teams want and is good or good enough. Waivers are the only way no trade happens. Also if Van tells philly he's going on waivers this day this day and are ready to act they will likely get him. It solves the problem no buyout. Also philly needs goalie loungo is solid enough its not like bryz the locker room hated him. TSN insiders said waiver were the next option if no trade. And yes unlike eklund they are insiders. |

Nobody is taking Luongo's contract via waivers.
It is a terrible contract. That is the issue with him. So why would another team just pick him up on waivers and assume that monster?
It is a dumb idea, and if that is what Vancouver is banking on, they are dumber than I thought they were. |

So two days after agreeing to a $23M contract on one goalie, Holmgren signs the only goalie in the league with a worse contract?

Here in Montreal, there is Alot of Carey Price to the Flyers talk floating around on a few fan sites, RDS also getting in on it, there is a Third team in the mix, that I know, probably the Oilers, this trade would include Markov and Desharnais also headed out. Couturier and Eberle the fowards mentioned, along with picks/prospects..Stay tuned!! - jillann
so who do the oilers get in this scenario?
I can say with absolute confidence they have ZERO interest in desharnais.
and probably wouldn't do ebs for couturier straight up.
and even markov doesn't really help all that much. so unless theyre getting both couts and markov they don't do it. or even picks or prospects for a young developing eberle? no.
and with that said who does mtl get for giving up the best player in the deal?
it just doesn't make sense.
the thing about trades you need to remember is that all the teams involved are tryin to improve. theyre not just gonna do favours for your home team |

I didn't read the entire thread so sorry if this was already posted... but some interesting reading for sure...
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 3h
i just called Bryz. He answered phone and said, "Congratulations to you guys," then hung up on me
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 3h
I phoned Bryz a second time to ask about #flyers buying him out. He said he doesn't want to talk and hung up on me again.
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 3h
By the way ... I heard Bryz had 4 blowouts last season with Lavy. And I heard players couldn't stand him.
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 3h
Bryz personally asked me several times if and when I thought the Flyers would fire Lavy
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 3h
And #Flyers fans, you might as well know this: Bryz ripped fans to me, ripped his coach and ripped other members of media
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 3h
And ... I personally witnessed two Flyers people arguing about Bryz in a bar this year. One was destroying him, calling him a cancer
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 3h
#Flyers opted to pay Bryz $23 million over next 14 years to go away. Pretty telling.
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 3h
For the record, Bryz LOVES his old Phoenix coach DaveTippett. Part of reason he had issues with us is he wanted us to rip Lavy
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 3h
For the record, Bryz was told he was on speaker phone with 3 Flyers writers when I called him and he hung up on us.
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 2h
I can add that I had several long talks with Bryz when he was mad at one media person and upset about being booed.
Randy Miller @RandyJMiller 2h
I am very certain Bryz did not want to stay in Philly due to coach, his system, booing fans, tough media. (what a sandy vagina) |

Take it from someone who's seen Mason play a ton over the years, if he is your starter you are in deep shizer. He hasn't been any good since his rookie year and didn't like getting criticized in Columbus, so good luck to him in Philly. - Jimmys7
Great goalies tend to come out of nowhere and have breakout seasons. Mason's stats this year were far better than the rest of his carrier. His performance at the end of the season with the flyers showed real potential. |

If he is claimed off Waivers would the Nucks still pay half his salary for the next 12 years? It would make him more appealing to other clubs but be no cheaper than a buyout to the Cnucks.... |

You need a bigger sample size than seven games.

No, the whole contract, which is why nobody is going to take him via waivers. |

You have a point but I don't know, I have a feeling about him. I had the same feeling about Bob, then we traded him. Now he has the Vezina. |

His breakout season already happened, it was his rookie year. I can't imagine a team that has high expectations such as the Flyers would be willing to risk their whole season on Mason returning to his rookie year form. |

I see the flyers going after hiller and Ryan for some type of package which includes read and coburn and probably their first. This saves them from being locked in and time to evaluate mason a little more |

He has done nothing to show that he is going to be an NHL goaltender, let alone want to come here and play.
Is he going to come over and play in the AHL for you guys? |

Neither did Fasth
but seriously....he will probably start in the AHL I would expect. The Flames will roll with 2 of Berra, Ramo and MacDonald next season.
Doesn't mean much but at least he had a spectacular WHC this past spring. |

I have only seen him play a couple of times. He was over here for the Blues prospect development camp a couple of times, and he really looked good. Then he would go back over to Europe, and never seemed to do anything worth noting. Maybe he will turn out to be decent. I wouldn't bank on it though.
Definately not the best goalie not in the NHL, or whatever your GM said when you guys picked him up. That was funny.
