Yeah I wonder about Eager...I still feel like in the right situation he could effective. I don't know if that's in Edmonton, but he got good reviews from OKC.

Coburn could be an effective #2 D, but he needs to be paired with a player like Kimmo Timonen in his prime to do it. Otherwise he is better in the second pair.

Coburn is a very good skater, has good size, a very erratic shot, and really took a step back this year when asked to perform as more of a puck moving D.
Playing a lot with Gervais also hurt him.

He can play 23-24 minutes a night.
With Mezsaros and Grossmann having health issues, the Flyers would need another top 4 defenseman if they trade Coburn.
I just can't see Edmonton being a good trade partner for this reason.

Trading one of those "untouchables" for an all-star D would be smart. Or else your small skilled forwards will love golf as much as hockey. Mac T will make a move to some degree in that direction. Obviously it will have to be a Letang type of D, but it is important for success. Any GM or armchair gm who says someone is untouchable is stupid, you do what you can to make your team better regardless of what player you send off

Perhaps Eakins can bring out the best of Eager......speed and a punishing checker.

I was very excited when he signed. he filled a role that was so desperately needed.
but for one reason or another, he just refused or was incapable of consistently playing that style. (not saying it`s easy on his body)

ive sorta given up on him.

but him, brown and another physical player signed to our bottom 6 makes us a much more miserable team to play against. I was hoping torres, but he`s been wisely locked up by SJ
