How about this
Gagner
1st

To devils
For

Henrique
Clarkson rights
2nd 2013

- Redmile247

No.
Clarkson's rights first of all mean nothing, as he will sign where he wants anyway, and even if he did sign with us, it's a heavy bill to attach to our already expensive (and soon to more expensive) top 6.

I think Larrson will be a very good defender one day, I would rather wait a year to see hoe Klefbom and Marincin develop.

3rdly, we have a huge hole doen the middle.With Horcoff likely gone and Nuge on the shelf till November,who plays Center? Henrique?

This trade buggers things up for next year greatly.

Here's my thought today. (frank) it, let's go buck wild and take every deal on the table.
Let me just daydream a little bit

Pitlick + Anaheim 2nd <--> Cal Clutterbuck
Hemsky + 7th <--> Cowen + Smith
Nick Schultz + 2014 Edmonton 2nd <--> Scott Hartnell
Sign Lapierre and Emery

Hall-Gagner-Yakupov
Hartnell-Nuge-Eberle
Pajaarvi-Smith-Clutterbuck
Smyth-Lapierre-Brown

Petry-Smid
Schultz-Cowen
Belov-Klefbom

Dubnyk
Emery

- Morris

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Seriously? Hartnell is worth MUCH MUCH more than that!

yes.

it would have to be built around the 7th overall though. but id be willing to add in almost any prospect, hemsky, possibly even prv depending on the caliber of player coming our way.

im struggling to get my head around how an 18 year old drafted kid could possibly be better than a proven 27 year old top 4 dman. even with adding in one of our prospects who only might someday be good enough. we're not talking Nathan mackinnon here. anyone we pick at 7 is a question mark at the next level.

it's true our prospect pool isn't deep, but why do we want more kids instead of proven nhl'ers? so that we can continue to say our nhl roster is young and not ready, but hey we have a good number of guys in the minors who might someday make the squad?

im all for trading the 7th. we're going into year 4 of the rebuild, I think we absolutely should be pushing for the playoffs next year. and not just through words. I really don't feel good about those kids losing for another year. not only that, but i don't think it has to handcuff our future to go this route either.

- hugefemale dog77

I think this core is good enough to make the playoffs(or at least compete for a spot), provided we upgrade on the departed players.

I think the core WILL be good enough but they have yet to prove they can play a full season so it will be tough to not fade at the end , wings and jackets leaving helps tho

I consider it. basically three firsts for weber. tough one including klefbom in the deal.
I kinda think we might be forced to yes to this. how many true anchor #1's are in the league? 9 or 10 max?
I think I try to find a more economical addition first though.

I will say that I love weber and what he brings, but im not as much on the weber bandwagon as a lot of people are. I actually always thought suter was the better one. and still do. so I think that's where my hesitation comes from. but as I said, I probably end up having to say yes.

again. I don't think so. He's 31, just had a 12P season, and is signed at nearly 5M until he's 37.

He doesn't have a lot of value, and PHI is tight on cap.

Eberle, Klefbom, 7th overall for Weber. Top 5 D man in the league. Downside is he's a right shot

Lindholm has had a better PPG than backstrom did at the same age. He's 58% in the dot and apparently a pretty good 2 way guy. I'd take him if Monahan isn't there. He's better than Monahan just a lesser fit. Huge dropoff from Lindholm to Nurse
- TheNugeIsHuge

Apparently he played wing all year and his 58% is coming from having taken a mere 67 faceoffs this season.

My understanding is that he actually has a similar skillset and weaknesses to Gagner: ridiculously high IQ, passing and playmaking skills off the charts, capable skater and a decent shot. Small and can be knocked off the puck. Lindholm is considered a good two-way player but I remember when Gagner was praised for his defensive play in his draft year, too.

Is there really that big a drop-off between Lindholm and Nurse or do you just like Lindholm more?

Very true. But I think we can expect better seasons from Eberle and Nuge. Hall is already an All-Star in my books, but he will still improve on the fine details of him game.Ditto for J.Schultz. Yak is a wild card,he might have a sophmore slump, or he might score 30 goals. Gagner and Smid might have plateaued...but there is still some hope for improvement. Belov couldn't possibly be worse than Whitney.Petry, Dubey,and MPS have all shown gradual improvement,and there is no reason to expect that to suddenly stop.

Overall,I expect the core of this team to be better.

What we need is some defensively sound players to compliment them, not the addition of another superstar.Simple additions of players similar to Kulemin, Boyd Gordon, Cal Clutterbuck and Andrew Ferrence would greatly improve this team.Not enough to win a cup, but enoughto compete. It's not until we are either on the doorstep of championship glory, or our prospect pool is deep enough (and valueble enough) that we blow our wads going after the big guns.

Lindholm is north of 6 feet and currently weighing 192lbs. Doesnt seem small to me.

trading picks, prospects and secondary players isn't 'blowing our wads'

this is exactly the argument ive had with iggy many times before we just stopped and decided to agree to disagree.
It's like there's no middle ground with your way of thinking. we either do nothing, or we 'blow our wads' and trade yakupov.
