It seems safe to assume Homer has a goalie in mind to roll with Mason...he just needs to tell us who it is, and soon!

Sorry, Flyers fans, but this is the Philly goalie being thrown under the bus.

I understand the business reasons for doing this as far as the new CBA goes, but I agree 100%.

I must say, though, Flyers fans should wear this as a badge of honour.

Your owner isn't afraid to throw giant gobs of money at a (perceived) problem to make it go away.

I pity the Islanders fan who tries to mock you on that point.

The owners who try too hard, often hurt the franchise the most.

Let me see if I have this correct.

The buyout of Bryzgalov and Briere frees up about 12 million in cap space, in which roughly 40% has been spent on a +35 contract in Mark Streit.

Anyone who doesn't doubt if the people running this franchise have a plan, have to get their heads checked.

- PLindbergh31

That is a plan... up to the point where they realize they're out of CBO's when it's time to get rid of Streit early.

To be honest, I am starting to get sick of this. Roster turnover after roster turnover..re tool re tool re tool. It does seem like they try something for a year and then try something else.. zero plan.

Cory Schneider, Alex Edler, and Jordan Schroeder for Sean Couturier and Wayne Simmonds

Philly gets a their goalie finally and the dman they need

Canucks get a 3rd line center and a good power winger works for both teams

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Burrows Kesler Simmonds
Booth Couturier Hansen
Higgins Gaunce Sestito

Regular buyout of his final two years wouldn't be crippling.

I think Homers repeated refusal in any deals Flyers are reportedly involved in to trade Couturier and our other youngsters is this the start of this.

They have a plan in action, we just need to be patient. This was simply a terrible FA acquisition and maybe this is where we finally see Ed Snider step aside and allow his hockey people to direct this team.

I never understood owners who force management to do things. How can Snider evaluate Homer when he forced him to sign Bryz?

Does anyone honestly think the situation with the next goalie is going to be any different? You have reporters that are just itching to manufacture drama. Nothing substantial write about? Anonymous sources!

I mean, the goalie is going to be seen as the problem regardless. This is a city that booed Bryzgalov after losing 1-0 in a shootout. Every goal is going to be soft. Every loss will be solely on the goalie. It's not going to be as bad as Bryz, but I don't see it improving a lot.

- jd342

bryz has had a trail of bad teammate stories since his CIN ahl days. this, according to Kevin Woodley, of who writes (primarily about goalies) nhl.com.

I found some film on him. He's not bad at all. I'm intrigued to see if he can earn a roster spot. He seems to have the two-way acumen to play in the top-9 from what I could find on him, might just need a season to adjust to the smaller rink.

Already working at reestablishing a rivalry with Detroit coming east next season?

I'm thinking that playoff streak is coming to an end...

Another good point.

Wonder if there is another shoe to drop (i.e.-- a trade yet to be announced or a signing).

- johndewar

I'm sure there is. I think they believe they can get a goalie they like or they would have waited to announce this.
