While Carle still has some credible perception around the league, I do think he's been overrated, and his play in Tampa was/has been mediocre, especially vs. contract, so, I'm not so sure they'd all rush to sign Carle...I think there may be one GM down south who might want to rethink his decision of a year or so ago.
If age wasn't a factor, I would say most GMs would choose Streit...so this doesn't make Carle "the better player", so maybe you're saying, Carle would have been the better signing (in retrospect)...I get that...I can see the argument for singing the younger player to a long contract vs. a 35+ guy, but as far as what you get from Carle vs. Streit, assuming both stay healthy and at 100%, I think Streit is more of an impact player. - exlund

Then we are idiot fans. The guy has a career .919 save% in over 700 games and he is still playing at a high level. Tough to find better than that.... Especially considering a lot of that success came from playing in Vancouver... Which is an offense first system like Philly.

I was there, sitting behind the Rags penalty box.
PA Parenteau got a minor penalty, and this one guy was just busting on him so bad,
asking wtf PA stood for and for him to enjoy his shift as he was going back to the farm team. Parenteau to his credit was laughing too. Of course, then PA scored on Bouch in the shoot out.
Matty Carle with the game tying goal late in the third, too.
carle's a better plyr who doesn't come w/ the 35+ trap. signing streit proves we missed out on carle. schenn was acquired as a reflex trade when carle left...and we still need a puck mover cause streit will be the poor man's kimmo when timmonen leaves. right now, a bit of a mess, cause we still would likely move couts or schenn for yandle or shat. - isaiah520
Schenn was dealt for on June 23rd. Carle was still Flyers property at the time.
No goalie is going to want to come here and play behind Lavys system, including luongo...I don't think they would have bought out bryz if he just kept his mouth shut.
