Dear stayinthefnnet,

We're sorry for breaking Marc-André Fleury. We didn't know it would be permanent.

Signed,
The Flyers

PS - yeah yeah, we didn't make the playoffs this year, but it's all part of the master plan!

oops...have been a bit out of the (greater NHL) loop lately...been studying for a job related license. Test tomorrow...and this is me on here when I should be taking (yet another) practice test. I see he signed for 3 yrs/3.42 mil...I said I would go 2-3 yrs, 4 mil max...woulda been nice.

That's debatable. Streit is a better puck carrier, stick handler and passer, a better shooter, better PP guy. He has been on of the top few point producing D man for the past 5 years and has consistently out produced Carle, by a wide margin, often while playing on teams with less scoring and supporting talent. Defensively, Streit can be solid...but his D game can become suspect at times, so I give Carle somewhat of an edge there...but Carle is no stalwart and has his own issues defensively...net net, I take the distinct advantage Streit brings to the table in offense and puck moving, for less money, and live with the small defensive disparity, if any, over Carle.

you run those plyrs/ contracts past scouts and GMs and i'll bet it's almost unanimous

What about Lars Haugen or Stanislav Galimov from the KHL? Both are young (26 and 25, respectively), they were 2 of the top 5 goalies in the KHL this past season (with one other being Mr. Bobrovsky, and the other 2 being 33 year olds), and one isn't even Russian, increasing the likely hood that he'd consent to switching leagues. Would it be worth it to try to find another Bob? Both of these guys actually put up slightly better numbers than Bob in the essentially the same number of games. Could it work to try to lure one over seas?

Yup. The games are epic, but the ending never improves.
- wolfhounds

well i mean i have dvd's of the boston series, so that particular ending doesn't need any improvement.

I imagine Boosh is toast, too. Love that little jig.

Not that I want to see him in the O&B again. Unless it's an alumni game.

I know them feels. Every time I see #20 I get them feels too.

I hope we get to see Danny again for a season or 2 like Gags. Speaking of which, I'll be pissed if they don't reup him.

Ahhh, I see. But then you just have to pretend there were no more games after that series I suppose. It might work...

While Carle still has some credible perception around the league, I do think he's been overrated, and his play in Tampa was/has been mediocre, especially vs. contract, so, I'm not so sure they'd all rush to sign Carle...I think there may be one GM down south who might want to rethink his decision of a year or so ago.

If age wasn't a factor, I would say most GMs would choose Streit...so this doesn't make Carle "the better player", so maybe you're saying, Carle would have been the better signing (in retrospect)...I get that...I can see the argument for singing the younger player to a long contract vs. a 35+ guy, but as far as what you get from Carle vs. Streit, assuming both stay healthy and at 100%, I think Streit is more of an impact player.

agree with you, they knew they needed to keep Carle, & the impact of losing him was understood, but the UFA status & very little to no competition in the market as such fetched him more than what made sense in regards to his worth.
