carle's a better plyr who doesn't come w/ the 35+ trap. signing streit proves we missed out on carle. schenn was acquired as a reflex trade when carle left...and we still need a puck mover cause streit will be the poor man's kimmo when timmonen leaves. right now, a bit of a mess, cause we still would likely move couts or schenn for yandle or shat.

That's being generous if your saying Streit is a poor mans Timonen.

Biron was basically a good guy version of Bryz...he had good stretches and bad stretches. Overall his numbers were better, but the teams he played behind were more responsible in their own end.

It was a lot of guys, but the only goalie that didn't play at a higher level with the Flyers than he had previously in the NHL was Ilya Bryzgalov.

Emery, Leighton, Boucher all played well under Reese's coaching. Bobrovsky came in without ever having played on a North American sized rink and ended up playing 54 games and posting very solid numbers.

Kind of hard to make Henrik Lundqvist out of Michael Leighton.

So by you agreeing with him, while he was WRONG about Biron even playing with Reese, would mean you actually fall under the "they" you are referencing than huh?
- Flyersgod

I don't see where I agreed with him. I just made a comment about uninformed posters.

I missed Reese by one year -- misread that, and I'll own it. What you don't appear to be willing to own is that under Jeff Reese, the Flyers' goaltending has been comparable to anyone else's.

Jeff Reese is absolutely competent in his job with the Flyers. The numbers prove it.

that's right, but that's likely the role he'll be shifted to, albeit as a 2nd or 3rd pairing puck mover.

The easiest thing to do is run around screaming "Fire this guy, fire that guy," like that's going to fix everything.

I don't think Streit will be half as good in his own end. I hear you though.

Are we now saying that numbers are the end all of information when proving and disproving a player/coachs worth?

Not arguing, just asking. Some days stats are meaningless, and some other days they are everything. Hard to keep track. Just a tuesday thing, or a few days a week? Please, let me in the loop.

Carle cost $5.5 for 6 years when the Flyers didn't have compliance buyouts available. Streit is older, but as has been pointed out Carle has almost 900 more minutes in the NHL. Much more mileage.

They had no choice. His play didn't meet the commitment the Flyers made in term or money. He was becoming a distraction-or had become a distraction-and hnestly, it's pretty clear that he didn't want to stay.

If he had played well, he'd be colorful. He was average, at best, so it's not worth the headaches

Ha! He did a good job, too! There have been too many goaltenders, and everybody knows it. But the regular-season goaltending just hasn't been horrific -- hell. I know I'm preaching to the choir.

They haven't made enough saves in the postseason, which is why there is no Cup. But I was amazed when I saw some of the numbers some of those goalies have posted.
