Two years to perform at a high level. Unfortunately he wasn't able to do it.

Even more importantly if you're Luongo, if there is a team that surrenders numerous/multiple assets for him, are you sure you're going someplace that you're going to win?

If I was his agent, I'd tell him, "You've made it this far. Do Vancouver no favors. They decided to go another direction. They have the ability to buy you out. Don't put yourself in a position where you have a sentimental moment, allow yourself to get moved, then regret not knowing where you could have gone if you let them do what needs to be done: End this contract."

Fire Jeff Reese. He hasn't helped any goalie improve really. Maybe Bobrovsky but thats stretching it. I think a new goalie coach could do (frank)ing wonders. His stay is overdue.
- Richieattack18

It amazes me he still has a job to be honest. Our goaltending has been horrid year in and year out. Even good goalies have sucked. Gotta teach them to play according to the way the team plays imo.

Ha! Seriously, it's the most fascinating game of chicken going on right now in the league.

Cap's going down $6 million, and you've got a $5.5 million goalie -- who can still play -- sitting on your bench.

If you're crazy, you say "Screw it. Might as well keep him another year, buy out Keith Ballard and David Booth, then try again next summer."

But with his deal...it's untradable, with cap recapture. It just is.

moving jvr gave voracek the opportunity to become that scoring winger. Outscored jvr by 4 goals and had 14 more points

obviously it helps to play iwth giroux, but just sayin...

- Crimsoninja

valid point, but we went in really needing one thing and came out needing two. i think he sold low on jvr and i wouldn't have minded aiming higher by trading a guy like schenn. plus, jvr has a G-like skill set that we used to have in abundance, but now is a lack w/ briere and jagr out of the picture.

overall, just moving the parts around differently so that we would have traded assets for the plyr type we needed, not out of 'wow, i need a dman' expediancy.
