I'd think miller/loungo both would be taking a slight paycut but market is in teams favor. Only a few teams need a starter and there are a ton of goalie options This year. Both are getting older and would be smart to not be choosy like when biron left Philly. I think miller/loungo would both like to come to Philly for a few years. Team is young and talented and they know Philly pushes to win cup. I'd be happy with Lou too under this scenario. Your right, trying to get someone like Anderson or halak or something going to be too expensive.
- SMS4016

Luongo and Miller might take less, if they are CBO casualties. But if they trade for Miller, and the cap rises, he's probably not going to take much of a paycut.

I think Halak might come cheaply. He butted heads with Hitchcock, they have good depth at goal and they have a slew of free agents to re-sign. Anderson...he's likely to cost a lot.

My first Richards jersey was bought during the 2006-07 season, when they sucked horribly.

There is a chance that the off-season market for top-4 dmen is tempered by the 10% reduction... if guys like Hainsey and Whitney end up signing affordable, shorter-term deals, Homer's going to look pretty silly again.
- Tomahawk

I see your point, but Hainsey and Whitney are a class or two below Streit in terms of skill and offensive production from the blue line. Would rather let Gus learn on the job before wasting money on either of them.

But yes, if there is a comparable player that signs for less, I'm sure the whiners on here (and everywhere) will be out in force.

Flyers make a lot of smart moves. In fact, most of their moves are good moves.
- MJL

You're selling this garbage on the day when they have paid close to 40 million dollars to Bryzgalov to play 97 games?

Trading for Miller would just undo everything they've been working on.

Pick on the amnesties!

I think you'll see them draft two D men in top 3 picks and cross their fingers that Gus, Ghost, Alt, Lamarche, etc. develop with the new prospects. You'll probably see one depth D man signing (Keith Ballard)?

Frank Seravelli is now on sportsnet in Canada talking about Bryz..

His take is that Homer knows his target... it's going to be Lu if he's bought out or Emery as a UFA.. I swear he reads our posts here on hockeybuzz. No interest in Nabokov or Mike Smith according to people he talked to in the front office.

They are shopping Mesz and Coburn... expects a lot of moves from them this summer.

NYR will acquire Joe Thornton per the rags thread
- Crimsoninja

What!? For who and how will they fit that albatross of a cap hit? I like Joe and don't want to have to start to hate him...I don't like this rumor.

Oh no, Severalli's on 590... Here we go.

He didn't say much. Thinks Luongo or Emery are targets. Doesn't think Bryzgalof will get another NHL deal. The rest was pap.

I just don't get the Coburn trade talk. You need him to be in the top 4 not on a different team next year unless a big deal goes down for another D man. Makes no sense to me at all. Mez- yeah, he is unfortunately made of glass. Does anyone have an update on Grossman? Bill? Big X-Factor there.

Pap-smear?

I agree about Bryz- I think he bolts to the KHL since the money will be better and he doesn't seem to like America to much.

In a fantasy world Id like to see if they could pry Halak and Ian Cole away from St. Louis. Not sure what theyd want in return.
