How can we be sure Ryan will come to Philly. I bet he hates us.
- dingo8urbaby

I hope he does, i wouldn't want that dude in a Flyers uniform. It would make no sense to go from one overrated over paid avg goalie to another one.

This dude is IMO one of, if not the most overrated goalie there's been for some time. This guy has had ONE, 1 stellar season in his career.

09-10 season, where he put up a 2.22 GAA, and a .929 SV%. Apart from that season he has never had a GAA in any other season below 2.50 and has never had another season above a .920 SV%.

I have to think his performance in the olympics made him this big name goalie (but as we've seen goalie's can get hot in this tourny, NITTTTTTTTTTTTY) when he reality he never really has been anything but avg.

So please for the love of hockey gods, anybody but miller.

I have no problem with Emery on a two year deal. It gives them a decent option should Mason struggle and will be a good environment for Mason to learn. Saves a lot of cap room too.

I guess I worry about his overall health.

OK is that w/ or w/out pronger on LTIR and his 4.9.....if we have 4.8M we need to sign a goalie and some other parts....did anyone add streit # into the mix yet....MjL your slackin.....show us what we got to spend so Homer can spend it b4 it burns a hole in those pockets!!!!!!

I'd stress the smart part more than the spend it part. You might not get any awards for having unspent cap space, but You also get no reward for spending the most cash.
- Jsaquella

I'm hoping for smart moves as well and am encouraged that so far we haven't traded any youth.

Now let's see what happens this weekend.

We need to all form a circle, hold hands, and pray for that.

Flyers make a lot of smart moves. In fact, most of their moves are good moves.

I'm cautiously optimistic...I try to see the good, or at least understand the logic behind the moves.

In a limited role I think he should be fine. If they were to run it say, 65/35 Mason/Emery I think he should be fine. If Mason totally poops the bed then I'd be worried about Emery's ability to carry the load over a full season. I would prefer Lu on a sensible deal but I like the idea of a low cap hit tandem of Mason/Emery for now.

Very true. I want whatever moves they make, to be for the long term. With the exception of maybe possibly a short term backup Goalie.

Good call! Garth has gone off the deep end and has convinced the BUF fans that they are getting a kings ransom for Miller- he actually suggested Oshie and a 1st rounder from STL (the team with 3 NHL goalies on their team already!!!). It makes me laugh just typing it. NO MILLER in Philly unless he is bought out and brought in on a 1-2 yr contract.

Yep, overpaid goalie who runs his mouth in the media and is a bit of a headcase.

PERFECT for Philly.

- Jsaquella

To be fair to miller what do expect? Crappy owners who won't spend on team... He gets run numerous times and weak team does squat... Miller never said anything that wasn't true. Alot of stuff said was to deflect off the team in same sense as a coach would. I watch alot of buffalo games and he is top tier goalie. He covers up alot of defense lapses. Great on shootout and odd man breaks that he faces numerous times a game. Just saying with the options out there I wouldn't mind having miller for 3 or 4 years tops. Not a bad bridge between when stolarz get here. Then have mason/stolarz battle it out?

I dont see this happening at all, but if it does the Flyers should be all over Kari. Remember wanting him back in his Thrasher days.
- Yosimar89

Zero chance. He's been the Stars single most important and most consistent player (at least when healthy) in each of the last three seasons.

I don't want Ryan Miller.

Luongo on a buy out, why not?
If the deal is right, he is still a really good goalie.

So far so good, step one is complete: buy out Briere and Bryz
Step 2 is done too: get another Dman who can generate some offense (Streit)
Now hopefully the following happens:
Mez is moved for whatever they can get
With the 11th pick they grab Pulock or Ristolainen or they trade down a bit, get another 2nd and if Pulock and Ristolainen are gone, they grab Morrissey.
They do not spend big bucks on an aging goalie or aging forwards
They slip a tranquilizer in Mr. Snider's metamucil and continue to build patiently through the draft.

- BiggE

Why trade Mez if you arn't going to do anything with that cap hit? The health of the D is a huge ?. If you have the extra $$ keep him. If you can improve elsewhere or the return is above nothing then unload him.

Bill, any inkling what the Stars will do at 10 yet? I know the new GM is a BPA guy, but any ideas who they really like?

I would think if they do trade Meszaros, it's with a move in mind. They can now make the move first. Then trade him afterwards. To protect against not getting who they want.

Could use the space at the TDL and to provide an outside chance that they won't be over the upper limit and won't have to worry about LTIR forcing them to defer bonuses to future seasons.

This year, because of the LTIR mess, they have $182K in dead space.

I see Patrick Berglund signed a new 1 yr deal with St Louis for 3.25M.

Was he an RFA going into this season?

That's just it -- they'll go BPA and it's hard to say who they might consider that at number 10. My gut feeling says it it will be a forward.

Also the Penguins signed Harry Z?
That little head hunter playing against the Flyers could be trouble (if he cracks their line up)
