It's no fun coming in here and trying to troll if you guys are ripping the Flyers worse than I ever could.

And if we're making even one Leafs fan's life miserable, then we have succeeded as a fanbase.

excitement is in the air for next season as the flyers showcase 39 and 35yo Dmen and a 35yo goalie

Apparently they are going to market every game as a "Heritage Classic."

Since Lou wore 1 in Van, and Bernie's 1 is retired, I would say he'd wear 31. Yet, that's not in circulation anymore.

My prediction, he'll wear 11.

Can't see a team trading for him, 9 years at 5.33 million and he's 34
- Pat MaGroin

I hope they do trade for him. On the open market has going to demand BIG money.

Two questions...
What year do you think Luongo retire? (Or really how many solid seasons does he have left)
What will the cap be in your best estimate when he does retire?

Now go to capgeeks cap recapture calc and plug it in.

If we trade for Lu this season and he plays 5 more years in Philly (until he is 39) the cap recapture penalty will be $1.726 million .. Per 4 seasons. If the cap is $90 million in 2018 that's less than 2% of our cap space affected by Lu's early retirement. To me its not that big of a deal considering lu is a fantastic goalie still in his prime and I want to win now. I think the lu contract thing is blown way out of proportion and anyone that thinks lu (or any CBO) will sign cheaply just because they have extra income is kidding themselves.
