I don't mean it in a negative way, as I have no idea about the kid's personality except for what I see on the ice. From the way he carries himself, he strikes me as a confident kid, who has probably had to deal with alot of ribbing because of who his father is, and just embraces the whole thing. I certaintly have seen nothing to suggest that he's a Richard. He's just a confident kid, and he's not afraid to express that confidence on the ice.

Todd was the one who used cocky. But there certainly is nothing wrong with a little confidence or even cockiness. Gives you that attitude that there isn't anything you can't accomplish. As long as it doesn't rub the wrong way on his teammates I'm fine with it. I'm more worried about taking someone that small at #9. I know he's a bulldog and fearless player, but its still not easy being that small in the NHL.

Yeah, we don't have any prospects with personality issues.

Like Patrice Cormier trying to murder that kid on the ice

Or Merrill smoking weed and getting drunk instead of playing hockey.

Or Stefan Matteau getting kicked off his juniors team.

No problems here!

No. Who would you even give us for #9 ? and why would we draft a goalie when we have 3 goalie prospects and next to none in the forward department. I really cant wait to see who you offer for the 9th overall pic plus #21

JvR? Only player I could think of, which would be interesting considering he's young. But its a pretty big risk trading at 9 and waiting until 21. If someone should take Fucale before us we would be screwed.

I wouldn't mind JVR but I doubt they offer that they only offer trades they win and to be honest I am completely not interested in taking a goalie in the first round maybe second but certainly not 1st.

Imagine if Evander Kane was still available I would give the 9th, Merril and jj/someone else. Maybe more if it only needed to be adjusted a bit like a 3rd or something, perhaps even Henrique instead of JJ or Merril

I read on the Fourth Period that the Lightning may buy out Lecavalier and Malone. I am interested in Lecavalier, maybe if we put Henrique or Lokti on wing and let him play with Kovy. His numbers are not as bad as I thought they were, I guess it's just the contract that he has. He's 33, and I think he could be the guy Kovy needs to produce like he did when he was with Atlanta. Any interest?

He's not horrible, but both of those players seem to always be hurt or dealing with some sort of nagging injury, etc. Excuses for no production, perhaps. But Lokti wont be put on the wing. I remember reading he has no desire to play there & that may have constributed to his trade earlier in the season. As far as putting Henrique there I don't see why not, unless he's a stellar faceoff guy. I don't think anyone on NJ can do squat in the faceoff dot, but that's another problem.

Talented as Lecavalier is, he's not a fit.

I'll be thrilled if we get Shinkaruk. He seems like a Parise/Kane hybrid. Kane is 5'10 and 181 lbs and we know how good he is. Not saying Shinkaruk will be as good, but the sky is the limit for this highly passionate player. The kid works, and keeps working, and then works some more, takes hits, scores goals, makes plays, because he loves the game and has drive to excel. This screams Parise, leadership, LW, WHAT WE NEED. He's only 170 now, but he'll put on at the very least another 10 pounds. Stellar player. Idk as much about Lindholm, but Shinkaruk's passion and leadership is enough for him to be my pick at #9.. if he falls past 7 and 8. .. unless Lindholm and Monahan really are that good.. or if Nurse is the next Scott Stevens.

I just feel like with Larsson, Merrill and Gelinas as pretty solid projections as being top 4 guys.. and then the rest of the D prospects, we're ok at D. Only forward options on the wing are Boucher and Matteau, potential 1st and 2nd line LWs. Tricky business.

Nurse is not the next Scott Stevens. Nikita Zadarov is actually closer to that type of defensemen, IMO. Zadarov is a bad motha franker and is my pick to be riser in this draft.

Really wish they'd sack David Conte and the scouting team. We are a team who needs results from the draft and our top picks due to our inability to keep or lure any UFA's due to budet contraints. Recent 1st round headache picks:

Matt Corrente- 1st rounder, career minor leaguer
Mattias Tedenby- 1st rounder, (yet to be seen, but looking like) career minor leaguer
Stefan Matteau- 1st rounder, (yet to be seen, but has questionable attitude) kicked off QMJHL team

I see Matteau as a 3rd line/checking forward. That's it. And that's being nice about it.

Agreed. I think he'll be effective in his role like Claude Lemieux, but he doesn't look like a top-6.

Now Shinkaruk on the other hand...

please NOT lindholm. after bergfors, tedenby and josefson can we stay away from Swedish forwards? Monahan or shinkuruk has to be the pick, if both are gone trade down.

true true. Maybe 'potential' was the wrong word. I'm hopeful 2nd line is his ceiling and that he'll reach it.

It seems like at 9 we have a good shot to get one of Shinkaruk, Lindholm, or Monahan.

Based on what I've read, it really seems like Shinkaruk fits perfectly. Talented, hardworking LW. Lindholm or Monahan seem like good prospects as well, but we need wingers much more than centers.

If for some reason Nichushkin is available at 9 we should definitely grab him, but I'd be very surprised. I think the lowest I've seen him pegged is 7.

If we end up drafting D with number 9 I'll be very surprised and pretty upset...

Blast from the past. Don't think I've seen you on the boards since Woo was still posting.

Has it really been that long? I've always visited the site regularly since then (just didn't post) but figured I'd get back into the swing of things. Can't think of a better time to than the start of the offseason.

Great to see a few familiar faces are still around!
