Not sure you can get Eller too? Maybe Therrein would like Kennedy back? Small, fast and marginally talented... good fit for that team lol.
- rival22

Looking at the options on the Canadiens roster, I see Eller as the easiest one to be moved (with value to us).
Pacioretty, Desharnais, Gallagher, Plekanec ain't going nowhere.

just some thoughts.

- i think shero is dragging out the letang talks for the sole reason of timing. If he extends an offer to letang now and letang rejects it then the whole league knows shero needs to trade him. either because letang wants to leave to seek more money or the pens can't afford him, thus it would put a lower return on what we'd get for him in a trade. If they negotiate and tender him an offer closer to the draft or trade deadline then at least they can turn around and flip him for a deal they have been feeling around for the whole time.

i mean if we sign him for 6.5 a year at whatever length....do it right? that extension wouldn't start until 2014-2015 when most people believe the cap will go up to $70million....we only have $34 million tied up that year... cap goes up 6 million and letang gets a 3 million raise...thats more than doable.

- i think fleury gets this next year to rebound. if he doesn't show any kind of mental improvement then one of our buyouts gets used on him next year. though the goalie market for next year doesn't look any better than this year. potential trade targets or ufa's: halak, elliott, lindback, fasth, miller, hiller....? ehh

- with TK. really its a matter i think of establishing a price tag for other teams. if someone swoops in and offer sheets him i say you let him go and grab whatever pick you get in return. more than likely what you'd get in a trade for his rights anyway. plus it pushings off your impending decision on guys like cooke, dupes and letang. so at least you have an offer you qualified or you can go an match if all three of those guys leave.

if TK goes and cooke and dupes stay then does a line up more or less like this look good?

Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Neal - Malkin - Bennett
Jokinen - Suter - Cooke
Glass - Vitale - Adams

- i think the bigger mess to sort out and the area that'll probably see the biggest movement is your 4th, 5th and 6th defense. is orpik getting too old for top line shutdown minutes?

- saintjust21

It makes perfect sense for shero to be busting his ass right now to resign letang, and if he can't get a reasonable deal done in 5 days, then it may be time to trade him. As for Kennedy, if a team throws him an offer sheet, we get a 2nd round pick. However can you see a team trading their 2nd round pick for Kennedy? MAYBE a 3rd. That's why I think a team will throw a 3rd or 4th round pick for TK

Carolina didn't think Sutter was going anywhere either

Years later, the Penguins still own Rutherford

Gallagher ain't going nowhere.

I can't even tell you how many people have told me the Habs were looking down the line at Letang, or waiting for Letang to be a UFA and blow him out of the water.

The Habs won't be alone of course. The Sharks are also very interested and looking to replace Dan Boyle on their blue line.

EK tries to make you believe he's dead serious. He has the inside information.

What would you take from the Sharks?

I love Pavelski's game...

What do you think about Emelin, from Montreal? Is he an easier target than Gorges?

Seeing what the pens got last year for staal, the pens can easily get a top 4 defensive D man, a high 1st, and a solid prospect. The question now becomes which team gives us that and what players are involved.

I think Edmonton would be one of the best trade partners along with Colorado, but Col may not be giving up that 1st round pick

Even if they don't give up the first, I still think they have interesting pieces. A package like E.Johnson/S.Downie/J.Mitchell or J.McGinn would be enticing.

E.Johnson - $3.75M
S.Downie - $2.65M
J.Mitchell - $1.1M
J.McGinn - $1.75M

We match well.

There's also an interesting piece in J.Hejda.

He's really spinning the yarn from his poop spindle.

Having said that, Emelin wouldn't be bad if you compare his salary/contract length to Gorges. I'm a fan from afar of Pavelski too but I'm not sure that he'd be a reality.

We need some wings on good deals right? Downie RW/McGinn LW and E.Johnson or J.Hejda for our D looks solid.

Edit: oops....forget about Hejda. He's 35 already I thought he was 28 somehow..

Stewart/Shattenkirk/Rattie/2nd

for

Letang/3rd?

By the way I think McGinn would be superb.

I'd take that anyday....but they would be better off drafting MacKinnon and trading for Letang.

I'm positive we could get E.Johnson/S.Downie + from them.

How about Edmonton

Smid/Paajarvi/1st (7th overall)?

I tend to think that Paajarvi could be very inexpensive and have a lot of potential. Smid will be making what Letang is now for the next 4 years. The 1st rounder speaks for itself. This is a deep draft and that could be a very solid pro player...particularly a forward.

Lot of money being paid out in Philly for players to not play in Philly (Bryzgalov, Pronger, Briere). Rich owner or not, that gets old pretty quick.

You have to wonder now... If flyers are going after Miller or Lu... Lu would be cheaper asset wise and they can probably get Nucks to take a million of the salary.

According to Capgeek, the Flyers will be paying Bryzgalov 1.64 million a year until 2027, when he will turn 47
