From all the rumblings, just talks have happened, neither side hasn't put a number on the table. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Shero will put an offer out in the next day or two, and if Letang rejects it and says it's not close, Shero will hit the phone lines. - cap1681
Totally agree. It's still early. I don't buy the "let him play out the deal for a cup run" talk for a second. He'll sign or be wearing another uniform next year.

I have a feeling Shero is already receiving some calls on Letang. The conversation between him and Kent Hughes probably went like "we are looking for a deal in the Suter, Doughty, Weber range"..

I'm still hoping Neal can turn into a dependable player like Hossa or Sharp. This year he wasn't good. He got worse in all aspects of his game. Gary Rob should punch him in the face. - Orpik44
He wasn't the same as the year before but I felt that the power forward game that we hoped he would display here was finally seen in the playoffs. He became much more physical and commanded more coverage. He wasn't just sniping. Good to see.
Gary probably will be hitting Neal and Stamkos with so many lefts they'll be begging for rights.

I think Neal has gotten better all around. - Deadstar
To me he's gotten slower this year...hasn't been a good checker (like when he first got here) and is waiting too much for the puck to get to him (instead of chasing and fighting on the boards). Maybe it's just me, but I was not pleased by his game. He can do better. No wonder his nickname is LAZY.
Edit: I want him on this team. Just work to get better and faster everyday.
I have a feeling that out of all the Pens' free agents, a new deal for Cooke will be the first and easiest one. Cooke shouldn't get much of a raise, and there won't be much interest in the market, considering his baggage.
I think there would be a lot of interest in Cooke. Really if Cooke or Dupuis make it to UFA date without a contract it will be interesting to see the offers.

Dupuis yes, Cooke is a different story. I think the history would scare a lot of people off. If he was 3 years younger, it wouldn't matter.

Go get Bickell and Malone right after. Get tough in front of the net.
Thanks. So we have no reason to buy out any of our players right now. Not even Fleury (can rebound back) or Glass (only $1.1M). - Orpik44
I don't understand the thought prices behind people saying glass' cap hit is too low to buy out. He is the only bad contract the penguins have and they can't save their amnesty buyouts so there is no reason not to use them. That 1.1 could be put towards dupuis and that would help keep Cooke as well. There is no point in having a 1.1 hit sitting in the press box.
I'd take Vitale any day over Glass on the 4th line. If he only could add PK skills to his game..
I wouldn't use a buy out for a $1.1M contract for 1 year..
Technically the Flyers could buy out Mark Streit's contract next year, right? - Orpik44
Yes but they already used 1 on Danny and they could be stuck with bryz's contract for 9 more years if they don't use it on him.

I think somebody said we can't buy out contracts below $3M.

At least with Crosby's deal, he will play the entire length of the contract. Hossa signed his contract knowing full well that he won't play the final 2 or 3 seasons. - cap1681
4 $1 million years, and signed through 42 years old. I like Hossa a lot, but he can't stay healthy. Hard to imagine that deal working out great for the Hawks in the long run.
