I say try and move him for a late rounder or throw him in a package---if there is one. He's a good guy and deserves a shot where he may fit better.
Vancouver? Winnipeg? Both liked him and he'd do well for Tortorella. |

Yeah, but both Toews and Kane will be getting nice raises next summer. |

Yep. They make $6.3M each. They'll probably get something close to Getzlaf/Perry. |

I'd say there's a good chance he comes back as a better player this year. Cant get much worse. But he really had a rough year last year. |

Hossa - circumvention.....You can kind of say that same about Crosby's deal, but not to Hossa 's extent. |

That's what they'll probably take. You could argue that they should ask for more. |

Not too tough to beat his numbers from this year, but then again he had a tough time getting them at all. I'd rather see Kennedy or Jeffrey. |

Yea I'm not too worried about his point totals. He was ineffective on the pk last year though. Which was no good. |

Hossa already got two cups with them and still has something like 7-8 years left in his contract.
If you ask me, I'd probably would take his contract ($5,275) if that meant a couple more championships for us in the next 6 years. |

I felt he was decent. Not as stalworth as Dupuis, Cooke or Adams but good enough. Unfortunately that's about all he fits this team for. They all contribute more to the game than he does. That's why I'd rather see him moved. Better for both sides. |

At least with Crosby's deal, he will play the entire length of the contract. Hossa signed his contract knowing full well that he won't play the final 2 or 3 seasons. |

I would too if it meant that. But that contract and Hossa doesnt guarantee cups.
If you remember Hossa took a 5 minute major boarding penalty in 2010 that should have ended the Hawks season. Instead they scored a shorthanded goal in the last minute, and won game 5 in OT. Then this year they are a 3-1 Detroit lead away from being eliminated. You need luck to win. I'd rather take my chances with real contracts that aren't fully front loaded and within the guidelines set out in the CBA. |

You can't blame the guy that signs the deal. Blame the guy that drew it up. Honestly though, I agree with Orpik on this. I'd be tempted by the deal. He's one of the best 2 way players in the game and he fits their system like a glove.
Like a fine wine...even if he's the exception to the rule |

From all the rumblings, just talks have happened, neither side hasn't put a number on the table. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Shero will put an offer out in the next day or two, and if Letang rejects it and says it's not close, Shero will hit the phone lines. |

I'm still hoping Neal can turn into a dependable player like Hossa or Sharp. This year he wasn't good. He got worse in all aspects of his game. Gary Rob should punch him in the face. |

His contract is great, and i'm not blaming Hossa for signing it. I'm blaming the Hawks ownership and the NHL for letting a contract like this go through. It seems like they fixed it in the current CBA, but this contract and Kovalchuk's contract are just garbage. |
