Remember us little folk when you become a big wig in the NHL media ok?
- Artyukhin76

I don't know if that's in the cards, but if it is do you think I could ever forget you?

Are you guys buying out Malone?
- Orpik44

I think it'll depend on whether or not there's a trade market. His contract is perfect for a cap floor team.

Regardless, I don't think he'll be back.

I would think so. We need the cap space!
- Artyukhin76

Wouldn't mind picking him up for the fact he won't be able to score at will on us. Incredible how he plays against us. Save the "what about the rest of the league" comments

I think ohlund and brewer are more likely. If Ohlund retires early they get hit with cap recapture penalty since the deal was more then 6 yrs.

Ohlund can't be bought out while injured and Brewer was more of an asset the Malone last season. So Malone is the best candidate.

I don't see Ohlund leaving LTIR. Brewer is still necessary, because a lot of our defensive prospects aren't quite ready. On the contrary, Malone has become expendable due to the emergence of Panik/Palat/Connolly and whoever else.

congrats Michael! great opportunity and Lightning.nhl really lucked out with this signing.

honestly though, your articles are always a joy to read and the subsequent debates keep me on my phone at work often when I shouldn't be. lets hope arty trolls as much there as he does here.

can you give us a hint to your next roundtable discussion?

First of all, thanks for the kind words. This has been, and will continue to be, a great experience and opportunity for me. I can't thank Ek and the rest of the team here enough.

Secondly, I don't get the questions for the roundtable until mid-week. So, I'm not entirely sure what next week's will revolve around. If I was to hazard a guess, I would say the draft.

the more footage I watch of jones the more I wish we'd trade up and take him.. what are the chances florida passes on him?

Difficult to say. Tallon is a complete wildcard when it comes to drafting. Not that this will sway his decision, but the way Kane dangled his way through the SCF was incredible. There have been lots of comparisons between Drouin and Kane. Given that Tallon had a great deal of success with PK in Chicago, perhaps that factors in to where he goes with the second pick.

Regardless, Tampa is going to get one hell of a player in the three slot. Whether it's Jones, Drouin, Barkov, or Nichushkin, we're adding a great piece.

If we manage to land Jones, it would certainly shore up a number of issues. I still like Drouin.

huge fan of Drouin as well but I think Nichushkin would be an ideal candidate for a Lecavalier replacement.. an extra center gives us trade potential with Johnson but id rather keep him. therefore praying for Jones

Nichushkin plays primarily on the wing. Are you thinking of Barkov? If so, I'm right with you. Drafting a blog on Barkov right now. I'm very intrigued by him.

CONGRATS MICHAEL, WELL DESERVED! It just seams like yesterday when the Bolts didn't have a writer on Hockey Buzz I remember you writing on the side blogs saying since the Lighting didn't have a blogger you wanted to give it a shot. Way to take the Bull by the horns and run with it! Keep it up
