Solid deal for the Wild. I was really scared they were going to throw 5 mil+ towards him. Very happy with this one
- Tweaterben

Maybe going after Bernier made him realize there were other fish in the pond. I'm thinking Fletch didn't make too aggressive of an offer, rather using it as leverage for re-signing Backy.
Not thrilled about seeing him between the pipes for another 3 seasons, but it could be worse.

Kept a solid goalie for a good price
Smart move I'd say

Now Philly, NYI & Phx can fight it out for Smith and Miller
And maybe CBus gets interested too w that 10mil per offer Bobrovsky got from the KHL?

How far ahead of the Jets were Wild points wise? 4 points seems pretty close to me, especially when one team, the Wild, is losing some players without the ability to replace them, and the other team, the Jet's, isn't losing anyone and has cap space to make additions.

Depends on which one of his teammates does Byfuglien eats during the offseason.

What would you Wild fans suggest the cost for Clutterbuck would be? Perhaps we could take one of Gilbert or Mitchell off of you to facilitate the resignings of Spurgeon and/or Cullen. We're not division rivals anymore so lets open the flood gates!

Honestly, I don't see the Wild letting Clutterbuck go, UNLESS they could pawn Gilbert's choke artist ass off with the deal. But I don't know if any team would see that as fair, cuz Gilbert really sucks for a 4mil a year player. We will see though

Gilbert was stuck playing with Stoner all year, and his on ice SV% was an abysmal .877%. Not something he could control. I'm confident he's still a top 4 D man. I'd definitely take Gilbert and Clutterbuck back depending on the price. Russo said something centred around Pitlick (for some reason).

Depends on if you are trading for his rights or if he agrees to an extension prior to trade. I think Fletcher is looking hard to be able to get back into the 1st round of the draft. Clutter may be his best trade chip to do so. I'd like to see how high of a pick Granlund would net, but that will never happen.

I'd rather use Clutter in a deal to move into the first round. I realize it would take more than just CC.

Are the Wild possibly thinking of buying out Heatley? I think that would definitely help their salary cap issues. At 2/3 of salary over twice the term that works out to...$3.33 mil over two years. That's pretty good to get $7.5 in cap space!

They were until he was injured. Injured players cannot be bought out...unfortunately

yea Pitlick has a ridiculously small chance at the show now. I just say Pitlick because michael russo suggested MIN was interested

Note: Tyler Pitlick is a Minnesota born and bred hockey player and actually graduated from the high school of the community that my family and I reside in. Notwithstanding, even my 11 and 13 year old groaned when they heard that proposal. But, as I explained, that would be a salary dump for a player who would go to the AHL and then it would be up to him if he ever made it up. Tough road in Edmonton with all of the good young talent there. May have an easier time making it with the Wild, but no guarantee there either. How has he done in OKC?

Russo filled in on KFAN here locally on Monday and Tuesday this week and I believe it was during Tuesday's show that he said Edmonton was interested in sending Pitlick in a deal for Cutterbuck rather than the Wild being interested in Pitlick.

I don't think the Pens would go beyond these players unless other Wild players are discussed.

Scrubs and fourth liners for Cal Clutterbuck? NONE of those guys help the Wild in the least IN THE LEAST...and Clutterbuck is a player EVERY TEAM would want.

If the Wild want to move Clutterbuck, they are not just giving him away. They could have 20 offers on the table within 20 minutes of him going on the market. He's not a superstar, but he's a sandpaper guy who can slot anywhere on the lineup and is one of the most dominating (and clean) hitters in hockey. And rest assured Wild fans aren't trying to get rid of him either.

I'll talk to Stan Bowman and have a legitimate offer to the Wild shortly.

On his own, he just isn't going to bring much of a return. And Fletcher probably isn't looking to add salary if they unload him, so I'm not sure he'd be looking for a roster player. I see him as more of a sweetener in a deal where they try to get into the first round or get a quality player. Setoguchi and Clutterbuck together could maybe land them something worthwhile.

Clutterbuck will not be moved unless he's looking for unreasonable money. As stated by a Hawks fan previous, he is going to be a highly coveted commodity on just about every team. He's not a superstar but what he brings to the table is the perfect mix of skill and force. Few agitators possess the skill level that Clutterbuck has.

I'll agree he's not worth enough on his own to constitute a big trade, but more as you alluded to in being more of a key secondary player to anchor a big trade.

Listening to KFAN Sunday sermons with Barreriero this morning and he had Fletch on. Sounds like the Wild are planning at least one or two possible trades today.

When asked what the chances are the Wild move a player or players from the current Wild roster today Fletchers response was; "I'd say there is a high probability that we will make at least one or possibly two moves like that today or by the end of the week.".

Wonder if they've found a trading partner for Heatley or Gilbert? Who Knows, maybe they give up Clutterbuck in order to move one or both of those two.

Not bad. I guess we'll see how it turns out. Still need to create cap space.
