If that's the going rate for Miller, I guess Edmonton is out. They don't have a top 4 Dman. |

Q: What do Jimmy Howard, Corey Crawford, Tuuka Rask, and Jonathan Quick all have in common? A: their teams did not pay an arm and a leg for them. Especially with the emergence of Viktor Fasth last year, teams are realizing that you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for a big-name goalie to be successful. In fact, with big names such as Fleury, Ward, Kiprusoff, and Luongo all recently going through some major struggles, most being unseated in their starters spot, it's hard to see why any team would think the way to go would be to pay a kings ransom for a big name in net. Add to that Miller was 18th in save percentage (behind Steve Mason!) and 34th in GAA (Dubnyk was 12th in save percentage and 23rd in GAA) this last season... Bottom line is that most teams are smart enough to pay for results, not for a name. Miller did not deliver the results to get GMs drooling. And with only 1 year left before UFA with a $6.25 M cap hit? You'd be lucky to get a middling prospect or a 2nd round pick to dump that salary.
The argument of supply and demand only holds water when the thing you "supply" is what everyone else wants. The only way I can see Edmonton biting is if they had to package Dubnyk up in a deal to trade for someone of significance. In that case, Miller would be a good plan B. But more likely, the only way Buffalo is ridding themselves of that contract is to buy him out or take another bad contract (Horcoff) back in return. - Centacre

Did anyone know that Darnell Nurse's father played football at Canisius College?
www.nytimes.com/2013/06/1...-different-path.html?_r=0
His father, Richard Nurse, was a wide receiver with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League for six years after an N.C.A.A. Division III career at Canisius College. Richard Nurse told the CBC a few years ago, “I had my bell rung,” so when Darnell was 4, Richard started him in hockey, a game he had no concerns about. - GilPerreault11

Maybe the Leafs should have given Kadri and a 1st for Bernier. And this blogger might say we underpaid. LOL a 3rd liner and a backup for a potential franchise goalie that's 24 years old is overpaying? Makes no sense. - Smurfs-A-Joke
It's more like a third liner, second round pick, backup, for a backup. |

Miller isn't just a name, he's a good goalie that had an awful defense in front of him for the majority of the year. Also your stats are probably including special teams. |

Darcy will be talking about how the market wasn't there, etc on Monday. Miller and Vanke will still be here.
I hope I am wrong.

You guys insecure as poop. I make one observation about how Myers' contract is the reason he has no trade value and you make it sound like I'm making an indictment on your whole organization. Yeah, your organization knows nothing about winning (BTW, Brett Hull's goal WAS legit, get over it) but that isn't the point. Plus, even when the Rangers do have bad contracts, they still make the playoffs and still get good players in exchange for their crappy players. The Sabres get more crap. Stop acting like the Sabres are some superior organization because their not. - GOODPLAYA20
OK hero!
Your team has won ONE freaking cup in 75 years!
We have about 35 years to match that, and we will!
GET LOST! |

They need a stud on the Blue line. What happened to Myers? Has his play really slipped that much? |

The only untouchable should be Steve Ott. I would wait this year and see how Myers does. If he does not come through. I would buy him out. Only have 2 buyouts and they must be used by next year. |
