because hes 33 turning 34 years old, probably wants a long term contract, over 5.5M and is soft center, sucks at faceoffs, and will be a bad contract going into the future if longterm

for the equivalent of a salary dump or slightly more..I would take him for sure..but I was told that he will not come cheap. If I am going to pay a significant price, he is not the player I would like.

But what is the big deal about 65 points? Bozak can get you 50 and no one can really make Kessel and Lupul score more points then they already are. Offense is not an issue here, and the Leafs are not intersted in a Player Colorado is dying to give away. Can I read Nonis mind? Of course not, but its pretty obvious once you really think about it beause his salary is dumb, his play is declining, we don't need what he brings because all the best facets of his game are duplicated by Bozak, except the extra 15 points, which is not worth screwing your salary structure, chemistry or building plan over. Take this to the bank: Stastny will never be a Leaf. I'll bet you anything/

a guy getting the ice time and linemates he has should be producing one hell of a lot more

secondly.. stastny isnt declining.. he is being used in a role that the youngers guys are as capable of.. he isnt in a top line role not because of his inability to produce, but because the other two's inability to play dependable defense

also.. 65 points is pretty damn good man only 33 guys league wide were on that pace.. also..65 would be the low end for stats.. thats just the truth.

Gagner, but these rumours are idiotic. The Leafs are ok at centre with Grabbo Bozak and Kadri (and Mcclement) but they have one of, if not the absolute worst defense groups in hockey.


So, why would anyone want to trade our best defenseman for a centre we only kind of need?

why dont they need more scoring? stastny is either close or better at faceoffs than bozak, more points means more scoring and set up plays for kessel and jvr... more is better no? you want less? and stastny is good defensively, so i dont see the wrong in this if bozak usually disappears while kessel and jvr/lupul set each other up majority of times
