An upgrade to the D+ A healthy Gunnarsson will make the Leafs look a lot better next year.

His game wasn't exposed - his lack of help was exposed.

Look at Chara - I can't remember the exact number, but it was something like he was on the ice for 8 of the last 9 Chicago goals (something like that).

Is Chara a bad defenceman?

- Atomic Wedgie

Of course he's gonna be on the ice for all of the goals against...He averages 40 minutes per game...

If they keep Gunnar who do you see the Leafs moving and bringing in?

Dion gets exposed all the time, his lack of foot speed, shooting accuracy, and low hockey IQ come to mind as common complaints from fans.

This isn't anything new.

The question is whether bringing "a lot" to the team in terms of "chewing up minutes" on D is good enough. His game was exposed blatantly in that Boston series.

Hawks fans wanted Kane gone during the Detroit series.

You dont think Chara was exposed againt Chicago? Guess that means he needs to go.

Look, its playoff hockey and teams deliberately game plan to frustrate a team's top player.

I'm not a huge Phaneuf supporter either, but I recognize his value. If the Leafs want to battle for 5-8th seed again then we keep Dion.

Legally, there is no way you can require Gunnarsson to get surgery.

Unless you took him on a trip to Syria....

Hmmm.....

Yes, his game was exposed. His decision making in key situations was blatantly exposed on the OT winner by Krejci when he went for the big pinch. And WTF was he doing letting Lucic and Chara set up tents in front of the net? Basic hockey plays are sometimes a challenge for our captain.

Yes I think they should move him.

No to the Oilers... It's Hall, Eberle, RNH team... Wrong personality to add to that room IMO.

Trade him to the Ducks or Panthers so I don't have to see his face anymore

you're right, dion should never make a mistake playing 31 mins a game vs a stanley cup team.

he should have thrown chara into the stands with 1 arm, flicked lucic into the corner with his pinky and shot a blaster from our own blue line to win the series.

I rather see Blacker or they sign Ranger than Gunnarsson, he is a bottom pairing d-man that will get paid too much for that role, I would trade him for a pick or as a package. Time to see what they have in Blacker, Percy is year away or so, the dark horse here is Granberg.

And yet he finished 11th in Norris Trophy voting.

It's odd how a guy that bad could fool so many people.

Quick story: my brother was having a few wobbly pops with none other than Kevin Lowe last year.

My brother started moaning about how Phaneuf wasn't this and that, and Lowe shut my brother right down. Basically said that Phaneuf is one of the top d-men in the league, does stuff that most of the other d in the league can't do, and he chuckles whenever he hears hockey's deep thinkers ragging on Phaneuf.

Seriously, my brother loves ragging on Phaneuf. Absolutely loves it. It kills him to tell this story.

Absolutely kills him.

Kevin Lowe is a blithering idiot.

Everyone knows that.

11th in Norris voting isn't much of a bragging right to me.

"common" is a good word to use for those complaints... especially with this definition in mind:

5
a : falling below ordinary standards : second-rate
b : lacking refinement : coarse

But the Ducks play the Oilers. You'll still have the pleasure of watching him. I think if he gets traded it's to the West.

My theory, and I know I said it yesterday, is that he's great at nothing but he's good at everything.

Tough to find that.
