Again based on scouting reports and not much else. - honesthockey
Not too sure what could matter more. These are people who get paid to watch hockey for a living.
Its notable that most Leaf fans feel this trade was either dumb or at best, redundant and yet the actual hockey guys love it. One scout - quoted in the Toronto Star - said "I love this trade for Toronto"
And hey, if you arent going to listen to experts and then consider changing your opinion I suppose you must be a Conservative/Republican. |

A rumour I heard today - at work so take that for what its worth, which should be nothing - was
HOLY poop JP ARRENCIBIA JUST THREW OUT A RUNNER!!!!!!!!!
sorry., that blew my mind
The rumour I heard was that the Leafs would trade Reimer, Grabovski and a their pick to Colorodo for Eric Johnson and Colorodos second (a downgrade of 7 spots or so) - Jimmy_Tea
doesn't make much sense for Colorado to take Grabo. They have 3 centers better than him, who have like $15M in cap hit already |

That's why keeping draft picks and maintaining an AHL affiliate with some respectable talent is so important. Fill in the holes with servicable plugs, like a Hamilton. Look at McClements salary vs his worth to the Leafs. Gotta find or develop those gems. - Woderwick
We're still suffering a bit from JJ's reign as GM unfortunately. Guys like Biggs, Ross, Ashton, McKegg, Broll/Devane. All still a year away from being effective at the NHL level. My god it's nice that we actually developed some prospects.
I can make everything fit if Liles is bought out. |

Reimer has proven a few things......
1) He can stop pucks
2) cant catch pucks
3) Handles the puck like a live grenade
4)capable of stealing a game
5) Injuries dating back to Jr. Hockey are a concern
I like Reimer, but....... - billyberg10
Not saying Reimer is the be all and end all but If it's me I'm looking for 3-4 defensmen first with a 3rd line replacement of Komarov.

This could be a great trade. Or it may not be. It's a coin toss. I'll say it again. Assets used to upgrade in different positions was to me anyway more important.

Because assets used could have enhanced the return.

WHY - burn
What if we can't trade liles or grabo and they both suck again? What if a trade or free agent opportunity comes up for a young centre and we do not have the cap space? |

Out of those players listed do you see any having an NHL impact?

meh, they have more assets. Now they have much better asset, and could count Reimer as a tradeable asset if need be.
Reimer arguably has more trade value than Bernier given everyone knew Bernier demanded a trade (and was promised one in fact) |

Having a cap hit for Komi doesn't help the situation.

To answer someone's question above, you can retain up to 50% of salary/cap hit when trading a guy. |

the reiminister of defense or optimus-reim may need to change his glove to the slit model. may make easier for him to hold on to it.

It could be raining gold in Toronto and someone would complain it is ruining the paint on the new park benches.
Bottom line, you improved at the position. If they are not professional enough to handle it who gets to play the most, that is unprofessionalism.
But there are a few things about Bernier that worry me.....
Entered the league in 2007-8.
Since then, he has only played 62 games and zero playoff games.
Meanwhile, Shrivens entered the league in 11/12 and played 32 games.
Is this really an upgrade that cost that much? - Beatle_john
Schneider 68 games before this season and he is 2 years older than Bernier....
would you have traded him for Frattin, Scrivens and a second last summer.... |
