not if they sign Clarkson, which has been assumed in all discussions today
- Big_Lightnin

Different players doing different things. Clarkson with Komarov still in the lineup would have been awesome. Clarkson expected to score Komarov expected to piss people off. Different game altogether.

Dude, it IS in the new CBA. Look at the Bernier Trade. Leafs are retaining $500K of Frattins salary. Fact!.

and that $500K retained is the only reason they traded Bernier to TO instead of Philly for a better player in Matt Read.

there may be limits on the amount, but it is absolutely in the new CBA

- Big_Lightnin

SO does that 500k count against the Leafs salary? And what is the limit? Can Vancouver get fair value for Luongo by paying half his salery?

So how about Bickell.. If he hits the FA, I feel like id focus more on him then Clarkson, and I want Clarkson pretty bad.

Seriously though BL Clarkson would be a huge boost to this lineup.

Just funny when you call people stupider then proceed to spell like a 7 year old.

I find it ironic... You know, it's very ironic and makes me giggle.

You're an bumhole and an internet loser. Just so we're clear on that. I am pretty sure I spelled everything correctly, but then again, I could give a f uck about spelling, which is pretty much the most annoying thing a person could female dog about. You are pathetic. Oh, and you know nothing about hockey.

Bickell has had a great run. No doubt. But Clarkson with 30 then 15 in a shortened season? I'm all in on Clarkson.

Yes, counts against he CAP.

VAN refuses to retain salary, which is main reason Lu wasn't traded at the deadline. They can't afford to either, they don't have the cap space. They need to literally give him away for nothing.

I don't know what the limits are honestly... would assume it's a percentage of the player's salary

yup.

if they do nothing else besides sign him, they are a vastly improved team. If they manage to sign Boyd Gordon too, I might get aroused.

It could be raining gold in Toronto and someone would complain it is ruining the paint on the new park benches.

Bottom line, you improved at the position. If they are not professional enough to handle it who gets to play the most, that is unprofessionalism.

But there are a few things about Bernier that worry me.....

Entered the league in 2007-8.

Since then, he has only played 62 games and zero playoff games.

Meanwhile, Shrivens entered the league in 11/12 and played 32 games.

Is this really an upgrade that cost that much?

Agree, Clarkson is great and exactly what this team needs, but Bickell being 6(?) years the younger, I think he could possibly take the same path as Clarkson, they play fairly similar games.

Go for Bickel. Clarkson is overrated to the max. People complain about what Bozak will cost or what Grabbo makes but I think Jason Blake, ummm I mean David Clarkson is a bust waiting to happen. Can you say Erhoff? Can you say Ville Leino? In fact, here is a predicition you can take to the bank (well, to presidents choice banking at least) Clarkson will sign in Buffalo.

Oh, and get the new Deerhunter record, cause I think you need a good cd reccomended to you.

Here is whats wrong with the internet/ society:

I make a point. Instead of mentioning that I may be incorrect and pointing me to proof of this, I get some sarcastic nine year old answer from some internet douche bag.

I then say "Ok, well its possible I'm wrong, I'll look it up" which is basically the correct protocol for any kind of situation like this.

I get laughed at with an emoticon (which I think using them makes you look like a loser) and then I get a response so rude that in real life it would be met with a punch to the face.

And again, all I did was admit I could be mistaken and promise to look it up.

- Jimmy_Tea

you have an interesting recollection of the conversation so far. Might want to try that again.

You made a point... and angry point, saying a team "can't retain salary"

I replied simply "um... yes they can" and gave Bernier trade as example

you responded "you are wrong!", even though I am in fact right.

you said "unless there is a new rule I don't know about" (which yes, is in fact the case )

to which I replied "there is a new rule you don't know about"

only one being a douche is you, champ. And you're doing it all over the place.

Fair enough, and I'm right there with you. I doubt Chicago lets Bickell get away anyways, but he is one big, mean, hockey playing machine.

it is a HUGE upgrade. But you got it right about Toronto fans b itching. Bernier is a potential franchise player. Something Reimer and Scrivens are not. This is a massive up grade and a potential steal of a trade.

Who cares who played more games? Its an irrelevent comparison because the best goalie in the NHL for the last 120 or so games has been the guy who stole Berniers job, which is nothing to be ashamed about.
