If he's healthy come training camp, would you guys be interested in acquiring Havlat for what would most likely be nothing? I know people would say "Ugh, Havlat, no." But people said that about Lupul too when we obtained him. Just curious, I read an article that San Jose wanted to buy him out but can't.

we got $5M+ in cap that we haven't spent yet. Burn and I want to give it to Clarkson. It has been pointed out that Havlat, who has the same cap hit, is likely available....

another way to perhaps view this is as follows - if Grabovski gets 5.5, and clearly isn't a 1 Center (by the UG definition he can't be because he's not 6'3"+, 230lbs and wasn't drafted in the top 3 or 4)... then give Clarkson Grabo's money or approximately Grabo's money. With Grabo, Leafs still lack a #1 Center (there can't be any argument there)... but with Clarkson the Leafs have a pretty solid looking top 4 wingers.

then take the extra left over from Grabo's salary, the 1.8 previously allocated to Bozak and Komisarek's CAP hit and you have about 7m (roughly to play with) to find a #1 Center.

Now if there isn't a 7M$ guy available, you take the next best thing NOT NAMED Ribeiro.

I honestly don't get it.

If Leafs do nothing else this off-season but Sign Clarkson and resign everybody else form last year, they are a much better team that is MUCH harder to pay against.

And I have a feeling they will do more than that.
