I agree with the spirit or intent of what you are saying - "don't overpay"... however Clarkson is a bit of a different case than cay Connolly or Komisarek - both of whom were overrated and basking in the glory of their signings. Clarkson aint that guy, he wasn't drafted high like they were, he's not the golden boy who has had things easy.

And being from Toronto, he knows what the market is like. I don't think the majority of Leafs signees really understand the pressure in Toronto - and the level of media scrutiiny.

It does not make sense. Grabo was an overpayment and was signed for the sake of signing because we were scared of having no centers... 5.5M does not even compare to the guys between 5-6M getting paid that type of salary

from one perspective you are correct in that he does not equate to those players. But contracts rarely operate in that matter. Like Komisarek, he fits a certain need and tangible for most teams. He's going to get overpaid. I think Nonis is a smart guy tho, I don't think he signs him for more than 4mil. I'd be uncomfortable at 4.5 but it's what we're saving with Komisarek, so i'd live with it.
