WWJD? - Flyfreaky
Its funny how TO fans jump all over hype. It still is going on after all the crap this team has pulled the last 45 years. They have a great young growing goalie that all these guys loved a month ago and now some other guy that hasn't proven jack and has never played more than a few games in a row is going to come in a rule the roost? Dummies. Reimer has played 35 of 37 as a rookie. All you guys who think Bernier can just shine having never done a thing and playing in front of a far superior d are out of your minds. |

No way Reimer stays the #1 . Bernier didn't like sitting on the bench in L.A. so why would he in T.O. I say Reimers days are numbered. |

Reimer will retain his position as a number 1. Scrivens will continue to develop and be a solid backup for perennial contenders no less. Frattin will score 20 or more and be that type with speed and a good back check. And the 2nd round pick will be who knows. In 3 years everyone will look back and wonder why the Leafs traded for a goalie when they had a solid number one who was young and still improving, all the while giving up a solid two way forward with speed, and a solid and inexpensive backup. Absolutely pointless trade when the defense is still what it is. - aminnes
I like Frattin, but his game is more about work ethic than skill/hockey IQ IMO. There's a reason he was a 5th round selection.
I agree with your assessment that a stronger blueline is a huge task for the team, but better depth in the crease was essential as well. One knock on Reimer's head and you're stuck with Scrivens. |

Defense is already better with less second chance shots.
I agree that Frattin should get 20 or more in his career.
Scrivens will keep the end of the bench nice and warm. |

I'm not quite sure what Bernier's feelings have to do with it.
With the exception of Trevor Kidd, no NHL backup has ever been happy sitting on the bench.
The guy who stops the puck more will get the #1 job. And that will probably change a few times in the 2013-14 season. |

now that Nonis is in Edmonton and we have Bernier I could see a pretty big trade going down there.. however, all I would want from them is the 7th overall or Eberle and the latter will never happen. |

So over the past couple of days rumors that have been posted or heard of via radio/television would see some combination of this.
Out: Phanuef, Gardiner, Gunnarsson, Lupul, Grabovski, Reimer picks and prospects
In: Clarkson, Volchenkov, Stastny, Gagner, N. Shultz, Matt Read, picks and prospects.

Trade Bernier to the Devils for Clarksons rights and maybe Volchenkov. |

reimer blew it
he folded when the team needed him the most
his glove hand hasnt gotten better.. he started opening up his 5 hole a lot more this year and his rebound control is simply terrible.
he's young.. he has a chance to get better.. but i personally believe bernier is going to steal the job from him pretty damn quickly

Re: previous thread... fairly serious.
Stastny is declining, and can go long stretches without putting up points.
Phaneuf was far and away our best dman this past year.
Colorado would need to add to a Stastny for Phaneuf deal to get it done. A considerable amount.
Or at least absorb a lot of Stastny's cap. |

He had his chances....and couldn't crack the Leafs top 6.
I certainly don't like his chances of making the Kings top 6. |

I haven't checked out Zettergurg, but from what I've seen of Frattin's game, I wouldn't compare him to Datsyuk or Zetterberg if we're talking skill & hockey IQ. That's entirely my own opinion though. |

Berniers feelings have everything to do with it, or else he would still be in L.A.
If Bernier is a #1, which most experts believe he is. Then I think the games get split. I don't think (unless Bernier takes a crap on the ice) there is any way Reimer is called the #1 next year.
Having said that I don't think will be able to say that Bernier is a #1 either. I think it's an even split next year. |
