Like I said, if Buff can be had for a reasonable price, he IS the 1B Dman we are looking for, even if he is 395. - Byfuglien Ate Me
Winnipeg would be saving a fortune on team meals. And they wouldn't have to pay for two seats on the plane anymore.
Who even knows what it costs to make a jersey in XXXXL... Some poor kid in Bangladesh probably lost his life making his equipment. |

NHL has notified GMs that league will not allow player to be traded, amnestied and then re-signed by original club, Post has learned.
Guess Lecavalier's not coming back if they dump him. |

Must have been talked about (not specifically Lecavalier) if they are issuing notifications clarifying the situation. |

I love how they've decided that something not addressed in the CBA is not allowed. Just making it up as they go.
I guess it's better than allowing a bunch of retirement deals, then suddenly deciding to draw the line at Kovalchuk's. Then arbitrarily deciding to punish New Jersey for doing what everyone else does. |

Yeah, I think they basically reserved a right to veto anything crafty the GMs come up with; probably just as well, keep them from Bryzgalov'ing themselves in the foot. |

Haven't had a chance to dig into this, figured you kids would know, but with the amnesty buy-out this year, the player becomes a free agent and their current contract is null/void? Or is the team on the hook for the salary, but no cap penalty? |

What does that solve?
I thought the point was that we'd eat the money that TB can't afford. |

The team that buys the player out pays two thirds of the remaining salary (the real dollars owed) over a period twice as long as the years remaining.
There are absolutely zero cap implications. The player becomes a free agent as if he has no deal in place whatsoever. A blank slate. |

Vinnie would certainly be signed to a more reasonable/manageable contract (for TB).
What is Vinnie's value today?
This could save TB $3M+ in cap space for the next 6/7 years. |
