I think they are crazy if they don't buy him out now, it's like playing Russian Roulette with the franchise at this point - jimbro83
I agree, its just too risky. |

And it will allow you the ability to inject youth and retain Clowe. |

You guys clearly dont know some of these players positions'
If we keep MZA and trade Hagelin for Glencross (a trade Im not totally against)... heres what I think the lines should look like...
Nash, Stepan, MZA
Kreider, Richards, Callahan
Glencross, Brassard, Pyatt/Miller
Pyatt/Powe, Boyle, Dorsett
If we trade for Skinner...
Nash, Stepan, MZA/Skinner
Kreider, Ricahrds, Skinner/MZA/Callahan
Glencross, Brassard, Callahan
Pyatt/Powe, Boyle, Dorsett
I think these are the lines we should see. - aecliptic
I don't know if you were referring to me, but Glencross, Kreider and Skinner are left wingers. Nash played the majority of the year on the right side, and indeed, Torts moved Gaborik out of position to accomodate having Nash on the right wing. Now, you are going to move Nash to the left side to accomodate MZA or Skinner (who doesn't play the right side).
If that was your roster, your top nine forwards are as follows:
LW: Kreider, Glencross and Skinner (also plays center)
Center: Brassard, Richards and Stepan
RW: Nash, Callahan, Zucarello (fixed)
Play with the lines as you will, but those are their natural positions. |

Just to be clear, because it wasn't in my prior post. If the decision is up to me, I buy him out, because I just stomach the risk. I think, however, that Slats is old, he wants to win soon, and he is going to make a decision (for better or worse) that he thinks is going to give the team the best chance to win now.

Leave it to me to write a post about players natural positions, and put Del Zotto on the right wing ... But hey, perhaps I'm right. Need a guy who can hit the net on the right wing. |

I could swear Skinner was listed for years as a C/RW... oh well, Im wrong, youre right... :p
Either way... heres the benefit of Skinner... if you buy out Richards... you could also do this..
Glencross, Skinner, Nash
Kreider, Stepan, MZA/Callahan
Clowe, Brassard, Callahan/MZA |

Lets be real here though, we all know what this is going to come down to... Richards will get bought out either this year or next year and in the 2014 season we have....
Clowe, Thornton, Nash
Kreider, Stepan, MZA/Callahan |

What options does Mess really have right now? He's not going to get offer an NHL coaching or GM position this summer, so unless he wants to become an coach in the AHL or Junior hockey, or just leave for the sake of leaving, he's probably going to be back. |

Hypothetically, would you trade Brassard for Thornton right now? The Sharks get a younger center and get to move into the future sooner, and the Rangers get bigger and get to unite Thornton with Nash. Then you buy-out Richards, play Miller at the third line center, and use Brassard's $3.5 million to sign or trade for winger. |

As much as I would want Messier as an assistant coach I have a feeling his status in this organization will supersede Vignault and might cause a lot of friction between the 2. |

I dont think we have enough cap room to accommodate Thornton's addition without buying out Richards. |

That is what I mean, you buy-out Richards, trade Brassard for Thornton, Richards and Thornton's contracts are pretty much a wash, and you can use Brassard's money to sign a winger. |

Would you trade Stepan for him? Id have a tough time doing that. Just don't think brassard would be enough. |
