Which begs the question, if he knew what he was doing would get him fired, why didn't he change while here? Unless, he wanted out. Hmm. - OLDSCHOOL#6
It almost felt like that. It seems like sometimes when he spoke he was giving everyone the finger. |

No one on the Carolina board wants to trade for Staal, aside from the injury, they said they'll just wait til his contract is up in 2 years. I hope they suck, never make the playoffs, and Staal resigns here for another 6-7 years... and joins his brothers when hes like 35. |

Just one question. Didn't Wheeler pass on an opportunity to play for the Rangers a few years back? He's a RFA, Ryder is UFA, correct? |

have not heard something like that and wheeler is a way better and younger player than ryder and has shown chemistry with stepan |

I think Staal's injury is a huge factor here. No one knows if he will want to continue his career, given the fact that his eye sight will most likely never be the same. |

They tried to get him in 2008 when Renney was still coach. |

He will adjust, Im sure there are tons of hockey players who probably wear glasses regularly and play without lenses (comfort factor) and still play well. |

things are different now, if we could we should get him, he's what we need |

Well, that's possible, but with an injury of this type, his vision in the left eye is totally blurred. What that does is throw off his depth perception, not so much seeing bodies, but smaller objects like the puck will be very difficult to see, and judge how close it is to him at any point. I have the same exact condition, it's not as easy a decision as you might think. |

I have terrible vision, I cant see anything without glasses, so trust me, I know exactly what its like.
Maybe they can make some custom sports glasses he can wear on the ice. |

Yes its possible, I'm quite certain both Staal and the team are working to make it as comfortable as possible for him and still be able to play at an NHL level. All that said, I doubt Carolina or any other club is going to think bout trading for him until they know he can actually play. |

Gotta be honest, not even worried that much about him, Im sure they have all the top doctors working with him, and trying to do what they can to make his vision better (i.e. like the sports glasses).
Im more concerned about him walking away in 2 years for nothing. |

He has great speed, and size and has decent offensive skills. The issue is, the Jets are going to have a difficult time with their right wings, as the others are all UFA's. No doubt he would be a nice addition. |

Mcd, Girardi, mdz, moore in top 4. Then we have stralman as the #5 and maybe mcilrath or a ufa as the 6th guy. Maybe we can get jamie mcbain in the deal too. |
